Job Description
Primary Responsibility:
This position will manage High Country Volunteers' Medicare/SHIP (State Health Insurance Assistance Program), Tax Assistance Program, and referral services. Responsibilities include completing annual certifications for program management, recruiting, training, and supervising volunteers, directly serving clients, helping lead pop up and national "Day of Service" community volunteer events, along with other essential duties.Essential Duties:
Medicare SHIP (State Health Insurance Assistance) Program- Complete annual SHIP certification.
- Recruit, train, and manage volunteers to serve as Medicare/SHIP counselors.
- Make presentations and attend tabling events promoting our programs at health fairs, aging events, community groups, senior meals, and anywhere from which potential volunteers may be recruited.
- Maintain client records in state database and ensure program compliance.
- Complete monthly and quarterly program reports.
- Counsel Medicare clients. Tax Assistance Program
- Complete annual IRS tax preparation certification.
- Recruit, train and manage volunteers to serve as tax preparers.
- Oversee tax program in Glenwood Springs, Rifle, and Battlement Mesa.
- Make presentations and attends tabling events promoting our programs at health fairs, aging events, community groups, senior meals and anywhere from which potential volunteers may be recruited.
- Compile program report data and ensure program compliance.
- Answer calls and schedules tax appointments.
- Prepare and review taxes.
Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:
- Passion for our mission and our community.
- Strong written and oral communication skills.
- Detail-oriented with strong organizational skills.
- Self-starter with the ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
- Friendly, reliable, and conscientious.
- Comfort with Microsoft Suite.
- Leadership and supervisory experience
- Ability to learn CRM database management system for data collection.
- Preferred (but not required) bilingual in Spanish and English.
- Ability to travel within three-county region to represent organization.
- Must have a valid driver's license and auto insurance.
Qualifications:
Education and experience sufficient for the rigors of the position. For example, a bachelor's degree from an accredited institution or related experience working with community-based non-profit organizations, volunteers, or older adults that provides the experience necessary to perform the duties and responsibilities of the position.Employment Classification & Wage Range:
- Full-time hourly (32 hours per week)
- $54,000 annually + $500 monthly health stipend
