UNCCRI Program Trainer positions are a new position for the Cancer Rehabilitation Institute. We have recently had tremendous success in our fundraising efforts and this has now allowed us to hire staff members who will devote 100% of their time to supervising exercise training activities for patients in the UNCCRI program. Since its inception, UNCCRI has relied on student interns to serve as the trainer for our program, but we now have a waiting list of over 100 people which has required us to expand our ability to provide our services. The new Program Specialists will work 28 hours per week, and all of these hours will be to train patients and perform administrative work directly related to training patients.Job Duties:
Directly Supervise Exercise (95%) - Work One-On-One with cancer patients in the UNCCRI program directly supervising all exercise activities. Supervision entails following a specific individualized exercise prescription, ensuring that proper exercise techniques are being implemented, spotting exercise activities that require a high level of supervision, and monitoring vital signs before/during/after exercise for a cancer patient in the UNCCRI program. Write Exercise Prescriptions (5%) - UNCCRI Program Trainers will write exercise prescriptions for their patients that are specific to the patient's cancer diagnosis, treatment status, treatment regimen, and phase of rehabilitation. These exercise prescriptions are a detailed program that will be used to guide the exercise rehabilitation process.Minimum Qualifications:
Bachelor's degree in exercise physiology or related field. A minimum of 100 hours working in a cancer rehabilitation setting.Experiences should include:
exercise assessments with cancer patients, exercise interventions with cancer patients, evaluation of medical records. Clinical Cancer Exercise Specialist certification.Benefits:
