The Division of Continuing and International Education (DCIE), in conjunction with Breakthrough Miami (BTM), seeks a Temporary, Full-Time Program Coordinator to join its team of professionals. The Program Coordinator will act as the primary liaison between DCIE and BTM and will manage various joint initiatives, mainly the BreakthroughU summer program. The Program Coordinator will work as a representative of UM and DCIE and as an ambassador of BTM, their students, and their families. The role will encompass developing and maintaining campus logistics with student teachers (peer mentors), volunteers, faculty, and administrative staff in addition to assisting with UM site management and other organizational needs for both DCIE and BTM. The Program Coordinator is a grant-funded position and will report to the Assistant Dean of DCIE.
Duties:
1. Provide welcoming, inviting, and safe experience for the BTM organization and summer attendees 2. Provide daily general campus support and access for BTM students (125), peer mentors, and staff 3. Assist with recruiting faculty and assisting BTM with their summer curriculum, events, and activities 4. Facilitate program logistics and operational resources 5. Act as the designated liaison between UM, DCIE, and BTM 6. Maintain all visiting students, peer mentor, and staff records (i.e. name, contact information, parent information, peer mentor housing assignments, Level II background certification) 7. Coordinate dining services with Conference Services 8. Manage expenses and any internal purchasing with Business Office team
Minimum Qualifications:
Bachelor's Degree preferred in Education, Higher Education Administration or comparable Minimum 2 years' experience working in an educational or community organization setting Experience working with and/or mentoring students that are minors (8-12 grade/young adult level) Must meet Level II Background Clearance Results oriented management skills associated with development and execution of systems to ensure accountability Knowledge of crisis/emergency planning and effective execution of providing appropriate solution-based direction Effective oral and written communication skills Effective organizational skills Proficient in Microsoft Office Suit (Word, Excel, Power Point, etc.) General knowledge of higher education systems (College board, FAFSA, CSS, Common App, etc.) Presentation, instructional, and meeting facilitation training or experience The University of Miami is recognized as one of the nation's premier research institutions and academic health systems and is among the largest employers in South Florida.
