Job Description

Impact:
The Economic Empowerment Advocate will engage and support survivors in group and individualized settings and will also engage community partners in the educational and business communities to work with survivors in achieving their educational, employment and financial goals.
Days/Hours :
Full time, Monday & Thursday 11:00am-8:00pm and Tuesday, Wednesday and Friday, 9:00am-6:00pm, with flexibility to work weekends and outside of designated shifts as required to ensure access and availability to services. This position requires candidates to have scheduling flexibility as needed to support the team and meet the needs of this agency. May be requires to be available and remain onsite to assist during emergencies and other critical times.
Essential Job Functions :
  • Manage and grow the Agency's economic empowerment program to include components such as: a.
Workforce development (job search efforts, job skills training, maintaining employment, and securing better employment) Financial literacy, education and advocacy on topics such as budgeting, building credit, earned Income Tax Credits, first-time home buying, and microloans, micro enterprises, and matched savings/Individual Developmental accounts programs. b. Entrepreneurship and business networking. c. Assist survivors of domestic violence in developing individualized financial plans to achieve their financial goals. d. Assist survivors of domestic violence with identifying and securing affordable housing. e. Assist survivors of domestic violence with identifying and attaining their employment goals. f. Work with the Training Specialist on building a training program for survivors including: local literacy programs, career centers, Job Links, Dress for Success programs and local libraries. Connect survivors with local literacy programs, General Education (GED) programs, English as a Second Language (ESOL) programs and other identified referral sources.
  • Maintain and grow partnerships with the educational, financial and business community to support the needs of survivors.
  • Develop, coordinate and host business networking and community partner events and conferences that meet the economic empowerment and financial literacy needs of survivors.
  • Provide direct services for survivors including registration for agency services, safety planning, relocation assistance, court accompaniment and supportive services.
  • Prepare monthly, quarterly and annual reports for the Economic Empowerment Program.
  • Participate in Department of Children and Families (DCF) program evaluations.
  • Participate in DCF sponsored events, trainings, technical assistance, learning exchanges, conference calls and webinars.
Qualifications and Skills:
  • Ability to communicate in an effective and professional manner with colleagues, supervisors, subordinates, participants and community partners.
  • Effective and engaging presentation skills.
  • Must be creative in implementation of programs and activities.
  • Must be able to assess and prioritize multiple tasks, projects, demands, and deadlines with attention to details.
  • Ability to work with a culturally diverse staff and client base.
  • Stellar organizational skills and computer skills (including Word, Excel, Outlook, and PowerPoint).
  • Must be able to effectively collaborate with others and establish strong working relationships throughout the organization and in the community.
  • Ability to handle interpersonal confrontations/conflicts related to organization and/or job related issues in a productive and professional manner.
  • Willingness to assume responsibility and accountability for projects outside of the scope of normal duties and job description as necessary in order to help the team.
Valid Florida driver's license. Safe driving record. Proof of Automobile Liability Insurance Additional requirements: Employee will be required to take the Department of Children and Families (DCF) Core Competency training and obtain a passing grade of 75% or higher.
