Middle School Specialist Stuart, FL 34994 $18 an hour - Part-time $18 an hour - Part-time Middle School Specialist
PRIMARY FUNCTION
Under the direct supervision of the Education Director, the Middle School Specialist is responsible for planning, implementing, and supervising Middle School programs for members following all requirements.
PROGRAM DEVELOPMENT AND IMPLEMENTATION 1.
Implement and administer programming to Middle School youth. 2. Ensure members are engaged in programming and promote consistent attendance. 3. Devises, develops and coordinates programs, services and activities that prepare Middle School youth for success, promoting safety of members and quality in programs at all times. 4. Responsible for implementing special initiatives and age specific programming. 5. Establish rapport with youth to provide mentoring, guidance, and overall direction for their leadership development. 6. Support member's character and leadership development to include, but not limited to, encouraging understanding of others and positive self-concepts successfully. 7. Submit regular lesson plans, attendance sheets and support with various administrative duties as assigned. 8. Work closely with the Club's Social Services Specialist and Case Worker to refer students for support services. 9. Monitor and evaluate programs, services, and activities to ensure the safety of members including maintaining a ratio of staff to members of 1:20 or less. 10. Gain a working knowledge of grant outcome expectations and report results as requested. 11. Serve sincerely as a youth advocate to all youth, especially those in need of role modeling, resources, and advocacy. 12. Recruit and retain middle school participants for the program. 13. Actively contribute to the organizational culture of outstanding teamwork. 14. Communicate daily with supervisors as well as other professional staff to discuss issues and provide and/or receive information. 15. Other duties as assigned.
PROGRAM SUPERVISION 1.
Provide active supervision continually interacting with all members and providing motivation and encouragement. 2. Ensure that the program area is secure and clean. 3. Ensure that program equipment is in good condition and instruct members in the proper use of the equipment. 4. Discipline members fairly, consistently, and only according to established policies and procedures.
ADDITIONAL RESPONSIBILITIES 1.
May participate in special programs and/or events. 2. May drive Club van. 3. May input program data into database. 4. Complete training as required. 5. May be required to help out in multiple areas as needed. 6. Clean area as needed.
RELATIONSHIPS
Internal:
Maintain close daily contact with the supervisor, Club staff and volunteers to receive and provide information.
External:
Maintain contact as needed with external community groups, schools, and others.
SKILLS/KNOWLEDGE REQUIRED 1.
High School diploma (required). 2. Must possess a valid driver's license and a motor vehicle record that meets the standards of our driving policy. 3. Experience working with youth. 4. CPR and First Aid Certifications (or obtain within the first three months of employment). Schedule:
Monday - Friday with hours falling between 3:30 - 6:30 PM (School days). When school is closed, hours will be adjusted and fall between 9:30 AM and 5:00 PM. This includes
