Academic Program Specialist University of South Florida - 4.1 Tampa, FL Job Details Full-time $40,000 a year 1 hour ago Benefits Health insurance Dental insurance On-the-job training Life insurance Retirement plan Qualifications High school diploma or GED Full Job Description This position serves as the first point of contact for both national and international prospective students regarding our programs. It provides information and guidance to students, prospective students, and academic advisors, while also offering administrative support to students, faculty, and staff on course management, degree requirements, policies, and procedures. Key duties include handling course permits, managing the course schedule in Banner, and coordinating administrative coordination for assigned undergraduate programs. Additionally, the role involves preparing letters of intent, appointment forms, and tuition waivers for new and returning graduate students. Due to the demanding nature of this position, the ideal candidate will be a self-starter, flexible, and able to reprioritize tasks as needed. They should be aligned with our goal of supporting support student success, feel comfortable asking questions, suggesting solutions, and working within strict deadlines. This is specialized administrative work performed under general supervision. The responsibilities can be learned through on-the-job training by someone eager to develop their skills with minimal instruction. Therefore, excellent organization, time management, and strong oral and written communication skills are essential for success in this role.
Hiring Salary:
$40,000 annuallyResponsibilities:
Supports student administration through preparation of tuition waivers, processing course permits, maintaining student files and records, conducting graduation checks, and fulfillment of other student-related administrative requirements. Supports department or college recruitment and admissions process. May be responsible for administration of a direct admission graduate program. Prepares correspondence and mailings to applicants and prospects, maintains applicant records, and organizes information for review by faculty. Communicate with students regarding academic programs, prerequisites, and course selection. Notifies students with substandard academic grades and issues. Schedules appointments and prepare student files for advising. Provides support for instruction through administration of course syllabi, class materials, exams, course evaluations, processing course schedules, maintaining course inventory, etc. Enters information intoBANNER/OASIS
student database system. Fulfills administrative requirements for appointment of graduate and teaching assistantships. Create informational materials, recruitment brochures, and web site content describing departmental programs. Coordinates orientation for new students. Arranges and coordinates travel for department staff, faculty, and incoming guests and speakers. Performs other administrative duties as assigned in support of the academic mission of the department.Minimum Qualifications:
This position requires a high school diploma or equivalent, with four years of experience in office or administrative positions. Appropriate college coursework or vocational/technical training may substitute at an equivalent rate for the required experience.
