Job Description

Position Summary This faculty role is responsible for 4-H Youth Development programming in Mitchell County. It provides educational opportunities for youth in 4-H club meetings, coordinating local activities, and preparing youth for project and judging events. It utilizes the expertise of and works closely with advisory groups, community leaders, public officials and representatives of intended audiences to analyze data, identify needs, and assist in developing educational programs. It develops a federal Plan of Work that is equitable in meeting the varied socio-economic needs of the county and collaborates with other agencies and community groups to plan and implement programs. The Mitchell County 4-H Extension program serves a school population of 1,258 with 200 4th and 5th-graders. This faculty member will be an active supporter of youth wishing to thrive and grow in leadership skills. A presence is necessary in the community by promoting 4-H not only in the classroom, but also at conferences, 4-H camp, and various other programs, and may continue positive contact with the school system and area. This position requires frequent night meetings, some weekend work, and attendance at out-of-county meetings. A valid driver's license and access to a reliable private vehicle for official duty travel are required. Reimbursement for business travel will be provided. Transportation of others, including 4-H Youth and Adult Clientele, is also a common and necessary function of the job. 4-H competitions, overnight camps, and other events are conducted at district and state levels and necessitate travel and transport of participants.

Duties/Responsibilities Duties/Responsibilities This position serves as mentor, adviser, leader and instructor for children from the 4th grade until graduation. Responsible for managing the 4-H program in Mitchell County by providing educational programs for youth in 4-H club meetings, coordinating local activities, and preparing youth for project and judging events Implements the CAES Civil Rights/Equal Opportunity plan and ensures that clientele understand that UGA Extension offers its educational programs, assistance, and materials to all people without regard to race, color, religion, sex, national origin, disability, gender identity, sexual orientation or protected veteran status Identify, recruit, train, and help supervise 4-H volunteers in planning, teaching and evaluating Cooperative Extension 4-H programs. Assist interested volunteers in the successful completion of the 4-H Chaperone Training. Manage Multiple programs who may receive leadership from volunteers, such as the Archery Team, Shotgun Team, Horse Club, BB Team, and Livestock Show Teams.
