Job Description

The Volunteer Program Coordinator The Volunteer Program Coordinator is responsible for coordinating Feminist Center for Reproductive Liberation's Volunteer Program activities, including administering and leading the volunteer program. The Volunteer Program Coordinator coordinates participant recruitment, program design, curriculum creation, and logistic coordination. In partnership with the Director of Community Engagement and the Community Engagement and Advocacy Network (CEAN) team members, the Volunteer Program Coordinator will identify, recruit, train, and provide opportunities for organizational growth through deploying volunteers.
Duties:
Volunteer Engagement:
Recruit, orient, engage, and train volunteers to activate them into organizational support, community outreach, and grassroots advocacy activities Proactively identify and encourage growth and leadership opportunities for volunteers, including developing internal programs to provide training, education, and recognition for volunteers. Strategically align volunteer skills, talents, availability, and ability with organizational needs. Assist with identifying key constituencies or community partners and cultivating partnerships in support of reproductive rights, health, and justice. Maintain accurate and timely data input of volunteer activity in our customer relationship management (CRM) platform. Plans and implements volunteer engagement activities such as volunteer nights, film forums, phone banks, training, tables, events, and other activities, with support from CEAN team members. Helps to connect volunteers and supporters into the advocacy process, tabling & outreach, reproductive rights, health, and justice issues, grassroots fundraising, etc., with support from the public policy manager and other CEAN staff. Contribute up-to-date related content for our website, social marketing sites, alerts, listserv messages, action kits, etc., and produce and create volunteer listserv messages, with support from the Development and Communications department. Assist the Director of Community Engagement to ensure that department fundraising goals are met; including coordinating volunteers on grassroots fundraising events and working on volunteer-related grant proposals. Work with other Feminist Center for Reproductive Liberation staff and volunteers to coordinate activist, volunteer, and supporter recruitment and mobilization, with support from other CEAN staff. Identify opportunities to grow the skills, alignment, investment, and expertise of the communities we serve, including volunteers, to develop a new generation of leaders for reproductive health, rights, and justice. Accurately track, compile, update, analyze, and maintain a database of information on the volunteer program, including applications, training materials, evaluation surveys, observation reports, and other relevant data, as well as coordinate such materials appropriately to other CEAN team members.
Curriculum Development:
Develop new curriculum, presentations, workshops, and other educational content in partnership with CEAN team members to ensure engaging, accurate, and timely volunteer educational programming. Catalog, update, and maintain existing Feminist Center for Reproductive Liberation educational materials, curriculum, presentations, workshops, and other educational content in partnership with CEAN team members. Align educational content with community partners and the larger reproductive health, rights, and justice movement to ensure the most relevant and up-to-date information is available to our community members, volunteers, and staff. Required Skills:
Understanding of and commitment to reproductive health, rights, and justice issues. Direct experience with social justice, organizing, and/or movement-building work. Excellent planning, forecasting, strategic thinking, analytical and problem-solving skills. Strong training, facilitation, and curriculum development experience. Attention to detail and excellent organizational and communication skills. Ability to work independently and collaboratively, adapt as needed, self-manage, and prioritize between and manage multiple demands. Ability & willingness to accommodate a flexible schedule, including some nights & weekends, often necessary to participate in local community events and meetings, and the willingness to travel. Strong communication and listening, including the ability to communicate verbally and in written form to multiple audiences. Excellent team-building, creative thinking, collaboration, problem-solving, execution, and follow-through skills. Comfort with leveraging technology to research, track and build relationships with volunteers. Ability to understand and translate the Center's mission into training, curriculum, and engagement activities. Ability to self-start projects and complete responsibilities in a timely manner in preparation for trainings and presentations.
Preferred Skills:
Experience with leadership development, volunteer engagement, civic engagement, voter education, and/or legislative advocacy. Experience with racial justice centering anti-blackness, intersectional analysis, TGNC, youth organizing, immigrant rights, disability justice, and/or LGBTQIA+ movements. Ability to lead with kindness and from a strengths-based perspective; someone who sees the value in every person and communicates respect and encouragement to people at all levels; a passionate investment in the well-being and success of staff and organizational partners. Optimistic and resourceful, with strong self-awareness, cultural competence, emotional intelligence, and humility; grounded and flexible with a high degree of integrity and transparency. Must be able to conduct business in English; however, fluency in languages other than English is a plus.
Accessibility Information and Physical Requirements:
This role constantly participates in online virtual communication, including email, video conferencing, and other online tools used to facilitate virtual office culture and work sharing. Must be able to communicate and exchange information using these platforms. This role constantly uses standard office equipment such as computers, phones, and scanners. Must frequently engage with others virtually and in person. Must occasionally traverse a concrete sloped parking lot to access the FCRL office. Must occasionally ascend and descend stairs to access the second floor of the FCRL office. The noise level in the work environment is typically moderate.
