CASUAL Description •Applicants seeking short-term or part-time work with the University of Hawai'i may apply for Casual Hire positions, which include administrative, professional, and technical (APT) or instructional-type positions. Because of the temporary nature of these appointments, Casual Hire employees are not eligible for most benefits as provided to regular Board of Regents (BOR) and Civil Service employees (i.e. paid holidays/leave). Casual Hire temporary appointment is expected begin May 2026 or soon thereafter. Not to exceed 89 days.Duties:
Assist Logistics Coordinator in managing the food and supply budget. Procure supplies from approved vendors; track purchase orders and receipts. Provides receipts and invoices to Logistics Coordinator for maintaining the budget spreadsheet and making payments. Assist with the generator operations, including routine starting/stopping of generators and purchasing fuel. Responsible for refueling program vehicles and ensuring all kitchen equipment are in good working order. Serve as a point of contact for site access; facilitate gate entry for authorized faculty, staff, and guests. Monitor and supervise the campsite during off-site activities to ensure the security of University and personal property. Assist with packing, unpacking, and secure transportation of all equipment and supplies between the University and the field site Assist with the setup and breakdown of field camp site; ensure the site remains clean, organized, and compliant with safety standards. Independently plan menus and prepare three daily meals plus snacks for all program participants (faculty, staff, students, and guests). Implement and maintain food safety protocols. This includes managing temperature-controlled storage (coolers/freezers), pest prevention, and sanitizing all food preparation surfaces and equipment. Clean and maintain all culinary equipment, including industrial grills, burners, and utensils, to ensure cleanliness and proper function.Minimum Qualifications:
Possession of a baccalaureate degree in any field and 0 years of professional experience; or any equivalent combination of education and/or professional work experience which provides the required education, knowledge, skills, and abilities as indicated. Ability to be located at field site (in South Kona) May 16-May 30, 2026. Driver's license valid in Hawaii for passenger vehicles.Desirable Qualifications:
Experience driving 12-passenger vans Prior experience with MARE 264/364 or similar course Experience preparing meals for up to 50 peopleTo Apply:
