Job Description

Children's Program Specialist As a Children's Program Specialist, you'll play a key role in creating safe, engaging, and supportive environments where kids can grow, learn, and thrive even during challenging times. You'll work closely with program staff, community supporters, parents and caregivers to strengthen family stability and wellbeing. This is an opportunity to make a lasting impression and support our children and families navigating homelessness.
Compensation:
Starting at $18.00/hour What You'll Do Help design and lead fun, meaningful activities that support children's academic success, confidence, and emotional wellbeing Build positive, supportive relationships with children using proven guidance techniques Be a consistent, encouraging presence and role model for both children and parents Assist with workshops and small groups for families (topics like parenting skills, budgeting, and life skills) Work alongside case managers and community partners to ensure families receive the support they need Monitor and support children's safety and wellbeing in a structured, caring environment Contribute ideas to improve programs and create culturally responsive activities What We're Looking For A genuine interest in working with children and families from diverse backgrounds Strong communication and problem-solving skills Ability to stay calm, flexible, and organized in a fast-paced environment A team-oriented mindset and willingness to learn Excellent computer skills for documentation Integrity, empathy, and commitment to making a difference Qualifications High School Diploma or GED minimally required. At least 1 year of experience working with children (school, volunteer, or community settings) Basic understanding of the challenges facing families experiencing homelessness Schedule Part-time, Monday-Friday starting at 1:00 PM (Some flexibility required during school breaks) IHS is EOE/Drug & Alcohol-Free Workplace and a proud employer of national service.
