Job Description
Job Overview:
We are seeking a dedicated Program Supervisor to be responsible for the management, coordination, and leadership of Youth Care Workers within the Ellipsis Emergency Shelter. This role provides the leadership, coordination, and role modeling needed to ensure the efficient and effective delivery of services to youth, while maintaining program standards. This role is responsible for maintaining program and licensing standards, policies, and procedures. Also ensures that the living environments and staff performance are such that the shelter program is effective.Responsibilities:
Strategy Works to understand leadership's goals around program strategy and determines how these goals translate into program policies and practices Makes daily decisions in support of the program strategy for the organization Communicates program-related updates to Youth Care Workers with instructions about how to incorporate this into daily work Youth Care and Assessment Ensures the implementation of the Service Plan for each youth through regular collaboration with the treatment team Monitors, collects, and evaluates all required documentation to ensure this documentation complies with all Ellipsis, state, federal, and auditing standards. Scheduling and Program Activities Helps Youth Care Workers organize their daily schedule and program activities such as work details, groups, individual sessions, etc. Ensures these activities are coordinated with other services according to Ellipsis guidelines Assumes responsibility for on-call procedures during their scheduled shift Crisis Intervention Communicates and delivers agency-appropriate management techniques that are helpful to youth, including acting as a role model and as a resource person to help in solving immediate crisis problems. Monitors CPI interventions, as well as physical and verbal interventions Program Environment Ensures the maintenance, cleanliness, and orderliness of the facilities meets Ellipsis licensing, accreditation, and other compliance standards and guidelines at all times Brings any unresolved issues to the Program Director for resolution Employee Development Manages performance of Youth Care Workers within the Shelter Works with Youth Care Workers to establish performance goals and hold them accountable for their performance, including annual performance management, ongoing development, and corrective action where needed Demonstrates strong attention to detail and the ability to teach, reward, confront, discipline, and motivate the staff they supervise Monitors Youth Care Workers' interaction with youth and other team members, coaching them to improve job performance through evaluation, role modeling, and training Audits staff to monitor service standards and ensure quality of delivery, productivity, and documentation Provides Youth Care Worker staff orientation, as well as ongoing learning and developmentQualifications:
- High School Diploma or GED with 5+ years of related experience in Human Services Preferred-Bachelor's degree in Social Work or related field or equivalent work experience
- At least 1+ year of related experience in child welfare services
- Demonstrated performance as a leader or mentor, including the ability to lead others through good judgement, common sense, and the capacity for growth
- Evidence of emotional stability and maturity, with demonstrated capability of working with and establishing relationships with youth who have program behaviors or emotional difficulties
- Critical thinker and problem solver who demonstrates decision-making and time-management skills
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills
- Able to work independently, with minimal oversight, and with high ethical standards
- Able to deal tactfully with youth, family members, visitors, government agency representatives and the general public
- Able to provide positive role modeling for residents in areas of communication, decision-making, and problem solving
- Willing to make decisions based on what's best for kids and families
- Willing to participate in all scheduled meetings, trainings and supervision sessions as requested
- Basic computer skills including experience working in Microsoft Windows and Office products
- Clear criminal and child abuse background checks
- Acceptable driving record
