School Lunch Program Coordinator Position Summary:
The School Lunch Program Coordinator oversees all aspects of the school's lunch program, ensuring students and staff are served nutritious, high-quality meals in a safe, welcoming environment. This role combines leadership, organization, hospitality, and hands-on kitchen work. The ideal candidate is highly organized, dependable, and genuinely enjoys serving others.Key Responsibilities:
Program Oversight & Leadership Plan, coordinate, and manage the daily operations of the school lunch program Recruit, schedule, and supervise kitchen volunteers Provide clear direction and create a positive, team-oriented kitchen environment Ensure compliance with food safety/annual inspection, and sanitation standards Menu Planning & Food Preparation Develop nutritious, balanced menus that meet school guidelines Prepare and cook meals for students and staff Accommodate dietary restrictions and food allergies as needed Maintain consistent quality, portion control, and presentation Purchasing & Inventory Management Complete weekly grocery shopping and supply ordering Maintain food inventory and kitchen supplies Monitor food costs Build relationships with vendors and seek cost-effective purchasing options Kitchen Operations & Organization Maintain a clean, organized, and efficient kitchen Oversee daily cleaning and sanitation procedures Ensure proper food storage and rotation Organize kitchen systems for smooth volunteer participation Work together with Living Hope in shared space Community & Service Foster a welcoming atmosphere where students feel cared for Demonstrate a servant-hearted attitude in all interactions Support school events that involve food service as neededQualifications:
Experience in food service, kitchen management, or meal planning preferred Strong organizational and time-management skills Ability to lead and coordinate volunteers Knowledge of food safety guidelines (or willingness to obtain certification) Ability to lift 20-30 lbs and stand for extended periods Flexibility to work with classroom schedules and in assisting teachers in overseeing student chores Passion for serving children and supporting the school communityPay:
