Job Description

The Hiring Coordinator, in collaboration with Executive Directors, Program Directors and Human Resources, develops strategies and identifies tactics to address the hiring needs for youth development programs. Responsible for monitoring compliance with hiring and compliance requirements, including background checks, fingerprinting, training, certifications and educational requirements for current and future employees on selected teams. The Hiring Coordinator serves as the lead hiring manager for open part time positions that support programs with high turnover, ensuring that there is a pool of qualified applicants throughout the program year.
Scope of Responsibilities:
In collaboration with Executive Director, develop strategies and techniques to reduce vacancy rates and/ or turnover for youth development programs In collaboration with Executive Director develop recruitment strategies to be implemented to ensure vacancies are filled and develop a pipeline of candidates Facilitate communication with Program Directors, ensuring that staffing needs are clear, that strategies are executed in a timely manner and that the hiring/on boarding process is efficient and effective Serve as the lead hiring manager for open part-time and full-time positions for programs that are prioritized for hiring due to persistent vacancies or high turnover . Develop and maintain a pool of qualified applicants and substitutes as needed. Ensure completion of new hire paperwork, background checks/fingerprinting, CANTS checks, etc. for employees hired into these roles In collaboration with program leadership, ensure all required training is completed and properly documented by youth development employees and that background check clearances are accurate and current Collect staffing data to communicate the status of the employee base for selected programs, including progress in filling vacancies, training compliance, etc. Support program management in planning for staffing needs and the development of action plans to address persistent challenges Collaborate with Community Partners and Resources to promote open position and recruit for filling vacancies
Requirements:
Associates degree in human resource management or equivalent, plus a minimum of 3 years of relevant work experience required Strong communication skills required, including experience conducting interviews and evaluating job applicants. Experience facilitating meetings and conducting presentations a plus Experience successfully managing both an ongoing process and discrete initiatives, particularly in a staff recruitment or staff management capacity, a plus Must demonstrate an ability to work independently in a fast paced, goal oriented environment . Excellent time management skills and the ability to meet tight deadlines a must Familiarity with the Microsoft Office suite, including intermediate level skills with Microsoft Excel and Microsoft Word required. Must also be able to quickly learn new systems Ability to travel to program sites on a frequent basis to facilitate hiring and onboarding activities Child Abuse Prevention - Support the YMCA's commitment to child abuse prevention by: Reporting any items that may provide a health or safety hazard to staff, members or guests to your supervisor Following all policies and procedures related to keeping children safe in our facilities and programs, including those related to the monitoring and supervision of children Reporting any suspicious behavior and violation of policy and procedures to your supervisor Completing all child abuse prevention training, as required Equal Opportunity Employer This employer is required to notify all applicants of their rights pursuant to federal employment laws.
