United Way of Central Illinois (UWCIL) is an independent not for profit organization and the service area includes Sangamon and Menard counties. Summary of Position:
This position engages Sangamon and Menard counties through volunteer and programmatic initiatives aligning with UWCIL's community impact model. This position provides coordination of community impact work, helping coordinate vision councils, initiative development and implementation, community needs assessments, among other UWCIL initiatives, and overseeing all areas of volunteer engagement. Will assist in other related community impact initiatives and activities as needed to support the organization and community. Qualifications:
Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university or three years of experience in lieu of degree. Volunteer engagement experience, program development and community collaboration efforts preferred. Experience with CRM software and grant platforms preferred. Skills:
Strong written and verbal communication skills, critical thinking skills, leadership and self-motivated Ability to effectively communicate with diverse social/economic audiences in groups and one-on-one, a perceptive listener. Coordinates and helps UWCIL directed programs and initiatives. Assists the CEO and Director of Community Initiatives to drive UWCIL impact strategies, which guides program and investments of financial and non-financial resources. Builds strong relationships with the ability to work with volunteers, agencies, and the community as a whole. Researches and collects data to maximize community impact work. Proven time management, planning, organizational and analytical skills. Ability to work effectively under pressure, to be part of a team and to meet deadlines. Experience with Microsoft Office Key Responsibilities:
Leadership:
Participates as a member of the team in strategic planning and implementation to accomplish UWCIL mission. Represents UWCIL as needed in public venues such as special events, community activities, and organizations. Requires flexible schedule to attend events that may occur in the early morning, evening and weekends. Provides staff leadership and support to both internal and external UWCIL committees as assigned. Attends appropriate meetings, seminars, and events. Community Impact Promotes advocacy, volunteerism and community impact. Convenes community partners and helps in fostering partnerships. Helps analyze and monitor performance measures and provide technical assistance to grant recipients that advance the work towards organizational goals. Assists with organization, training and utilization of all portals for the Community Impact Department. Manages programs and initiatives including but not limited to 211, Singlecare, Dolly Parton Imagination Library and ALICE. Assists with fundraising and grant writing efforts. Provides support for UWCIL's grants process, including recruitment and training of grant review volunteers, meeting and site visit coordination, and assist with reporting achievements and outcomes. Collaborates with development staff to identify date-specific group service projects. Provides support for speakers and campaign presentations for company employees. Volunteerism Drives community impact by recruiting, training, and managing volunteers. Develops outreach strategies to attract diverse volunteers. Interview, screen, and match individuals and corporate groups with projects matching their skill sets Plans and executes signature initiatives like Student United Way, Read United, Day of Action. Designs and implements stewardship and recognition programs to celebrate volunteer impact, ensuring a high-retention rate. Collaborates with marketing staff to promote volunteer opportunities. Database/CRM Responsible for volunteer database used by UWCIL. Utilizes grant application and reporting platform and maintains data integrity through periodic data audits. Utilize UWCIL CRM
to effectively capture volunteer information and maintain data cleanliness by periodic CRM audits. WORK ENVIRONMENT AND ESSENTIAL PHYSICAL REQUESTS
