Girl Scouts of Southwest Indiana (GSSI) serves more than 4,000 girls and 1,200 adult volunteers across 11 counties. As part of the nationally recognized Girl Scouts of the USA (GSUSA), we empower girls to develop courage, confidence, and character to make the world a better place. Our programs focus on leadership development, outdoor adventure, STEM, entrepreneurship, and life skills, all within a supportive, inclusive environment.POSITION SUMMARY
The Membership Support Manager ensures that membership growth and program delivery function as one integrated system. This role oversees the member journey from recruitment through early engagement , ensuring that newly recruited girls and volunteers successfully transition into active participation and long-term involvement. This position serves as a key connector among the Recruitment, Program, and Volunteer teams , helping translate membership goals into meaningful Girl Scout experiences delivered consistently across the council.CORE RESPONSIBILITIES
Member Journey & Activation Own the transition from recruitment to active participation, with accountability through the first troop meeting held. Manage and monitor the handoff from the Recruitment Department to the Volunteer Department. Track activation milestones and identify early drop-off points that impact troop formation and retention. Ensure families and leaders experience clear communication, timelines, and next steps during early engagement. Membership-Program Integration Translate membership goals into experience-based delivery models. Ensure council programs are intentionally designed to support recruitment, conversion, and retention. Align recruitment messaging with actual program experiences to ensure consistency and trust. Experience Quality & Mission Alignment Define and maintain council-wide experience standards aligned with the Girl Scout Leadership Experience (GSLE). Ensure consistency and quality across council-led, staff-led, and partner-delivered experiences. Systems, Data & Continuous Improvement Track activation, conversion, and retention metrics tied to program participation. Analyze data to determine which experiences effectively grow and retain members. Create and maintain delivery frameworks, workflows, and standard operating procedures (SOPs). Provide leadership with actionable insights and recommendations to improve membership and program outcomes. Cross-Functional Leadership & Coordination Coordinate timelines and priorities across Recruitment, Program, Community Development, and Volunteers. Reduce duplication of effort and improve clarity of ownership and expectations. Support staff understanding and implementation of experience standards and delivery systems. Participate in planning meetings, debriefs, and continuous improvement discussions.QUALIFICATIONS
Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience in youth development, nonprofit management, education, or a related field. 3-5 years of experience in program delivery, membership engagement, or cross-functional leadership. Strong systems-thinking, organizational, and communication skills. Demonstrated ability to coordinate across teams and manage complex workflows. Girl Scout or similar mission-driven organizational experience preferred.BENEFITS
The position requires regular on-site presence but allows flexibility when needed.
