Job Description

Position Summary:
The Youth Development Coordinator (Anderson & Pendleton) is a working, on- site leadership position responsible for the direct delivery, supervision, and compliance oversight of YMCA youth development programs in the Anderson and Pendleton communities. This role is not solely administrative; the coordinator is regularly assigned to work on-site at specific Before & Afterschool program locations and/or camp sites, actively engaging with youth, staff, and families. The coordinator ensures all programs operate in full compliance with CCDF requirements, YMCA Child Protection standards, and all applicable state and association policies , while delivering high-quality, developmentally appropriate programming. This position takes the lead in planning Before & Afterschool curricula and camp activities , with final approval from the Director of Youth Development and Compliance, and serves as a visible leader in program execution, staff support, and youth engagement.
Essential Responsibilities:
On-Site Program Leadership & Delivery  Serve as an on-site, working leader at assigned Anderson and Pendleton Before & Afterschool program locations and/or camp sites.  Actively supervise youth, support daily program flow, and step into direct program delivery as needed.  Ensure consistent, high-quality youth experiences through presence, engagement, and leadership.  Model best practices in youth supervision, behavior guidance, safety, and inclusion.
Program Operations & Site Oversight:
 Oversee daily operations of Before & Afterschool programs serving Anderson and Pendleton.  Coordinate and support school break camps (Spring, Fall, Winter, and Summer) in these service areas.  Serve as the operational lead for assigned program sites, ensuring alignment with YMCA standards.  Maintain a regular physical presence at sites to observe programming, support staff, and address issues in real time.
Curriculum & Activity Planning:
 Take the lead in planning developmentally appropriate Before & Afterschool curricula and camp activity schedules for Anderson and Pendleton programs.  Design program activities that support youth development outcomes, physical activity, enrichment, and social-emotional learning.  Submit curricula and activity plans to the Director of Youth Development and Compliance for review and approval.  Ensure curriculum implementation is consistent, engaging, and adaptable to youth needs and site conditions.
Staff Supervision & Development:
 Assist with hiring, onboarding, scheduling, training, and evaluating youth development staff assigned to Anderson and Pendleton programs.  Provide day-to-day leadership and coaching to site staff through direct observation and feedback.  Conduct routine site visits and working shifts to evaluate staff performance.  Support formal staff evaluations and corrective action processes as needed.  Promote staff retention through mentorship, recognition, and clear expectations.
Compliance, CCDF & Child Protection Oversight:
 Ensure all Anderson and Pendleton youth development programs comply with CCDF regulations, YMCA policies, and state licensing requirements.  Enforce YMCA Child Protection policies, including supervision ratios, sign-in/sign-out procedures, staff conduct standards, and mandated reporting requirements.  Monitor staff credentials, training completion, and certification compliance.  Support documentation accuracy related to attendance, staffing, billing, and compliance records.  Immediately report and appropriately respond to safety concerns, incidents, or suspected abuse in accordance with YMCA and state protocols.
Training & Certification:
 Lead or coordinate CPR and First Aid training for youth development staff in Anderson and Pendleton.  Ensure staff obtain and maintain all required certifications within designated timeframes.  Support ongoing staff training related to CCDF, child protection, behavior management, and program quality.
Administrative & Billing Support:
 Process and support billing for Anderson and Pendleton Before & Afterschool and camp programs.  Maintain accurate records using Daxko and approved YMCA tracking tools.  Support communication with families related to attendance, billing, and program expectations.
Mission & Community Representation:
 Uphold and model YMCA core values—Caring, Honesty, Respect, and Responsibility—at all times.  Serve as a professional, visible representative of the YMCA of Madison County within Anderson and Pendleton schools and community sites.  Foster strong relationships with school partners, families, and community stakeholders. Minimum Qualifications:
 Minimum age of 21, with a demonstrated commitment to youth development and child safety.  Bachelor's degree in a youth-related field or actively working toward degree completion.  Minimum of two (2) years of experience in youth programming, childcare, or camp settings.  CPR/AED certification required within the first 30 days of employment.  CPR & First Aid Trainer certification preferred.  Team Leader Certification preferred.  Previous YMCA experience preferred.  Strong organizational and leadership skills with the ability to work hands- on in program settings.  Working knowledge of Daxko and Microsoft Office applications preferred.  Strong understanding of CCDF requirements and child protection standards.  Ability to pass a national criminal background check and Child Protection Services check.
