Job Description

Job Overview:
Instructors provide on-site facilitation of a structured Cognitive Behavioral Curriculums to designated criminal justice populations in the facility. Each model curriculum includes facilitating the integration of core components of cognitive behavioral interventions. Two project design models, designed by the University of Cincinnati can be employed, based on programming offered within specific KDOC facilities. Heavy emphasis is placed on skill building activities to assist with cognitive, social, emotional, and coping skill development. Each program screens targeted incarcerated individuals who meet particular criteria.
Duties & Responsibilities:
Implementation of a set curriculum: Attend specialized trainings by the University of Cincinnati, to understand the Cognitive Behavioral Curriculum Interventions for the Substance Misuse Program. Complete required forms and paperwork in a timely manner, to meet curriculum requirements. Provide the components of the substance misuse or the Adult Intensive Re-Entry curriculum(s), as defined by the University of Cincinnati, to incarcerated participants in one on one and group sessions, as determined by program guidelines. The facilitation of each curriculum requires individual teaching, guidance, and mentoring to participants with the anticipated outcome of successfully completing the core educational requirements. Determine the level of functioning of participants to develop and assign individualized practice work to enhance skill development of participants (critical component). Maintain a professional presence at the correctional facility; maintain appropriate boundaries to reinforce health and safety of inmates, allowing for appropriate participation in the program in accordance to the project design. Create, develop and implement activities for participants to fulfill in both group and individual settings including development of appropriate social skills as defined by the Substance Misuse Curriculum or the Adult Intensive Re-Entry Curriculum. Exercise discretion in guiding participants to successful completion of curriculum guidelines. Track and document client and program outcomes and provide reports to Re-Entry Supervisor, Director, Executive Team, and stakeholders, as requested. Program Coordination Assist the Re-Entry Supervisor and Cognitive Behavioral Care Coordinators to establish a referral and screening process to determine program eligibility, using screening interviews to ensure eligibility of participants. Screening of individual candidates requires analysis and discernment of whether the candidates are appropriate for initial participation in the program based on cognitive level, functioning and substance use history. Review the individual candidate's criminal history and determine whether appropriate based on knowledge and understanding of the unique population and environmental circumstances. Monitor and report on achievement of output and outcome goals for the project by continued oversight and analysis of participant's program involvement. Participate in interactive required trainings and meetings to determine the comprehensive evaluation of program components and outcomes.
