Job Description

JOB DESCRIPTION I. POSITION TITLE
Child and Family Program Coordinator
II. PROGRAM COMPONENT

Assistant Director of Child Development Services
IV. JOB SUMMARY
Serves as the Program Coordinator for child development services. Experience in Early Childhood Education required. Responsible for data entry with all Head Start performance standards, state licensing regulations, CCAP, ERSEA, health services, family and community engagement, disabilities, and transitional services. Collaborates with Mobility Coaches to connect families to services, resources, and support. Embodies the mission of BGCAP through a Whole Family Approach lens. Serves as the communication liaison for all center operations.
V. DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
1. Must maintain strong organizational and communication skills. 2. Always embodies teamwork and professionalism. 3. Ensures the implementation of high quality health and safety practices. 4. Must have a passion for working with children and families. 5. Completes paperwork and data entry necessary for enrollment, health, and other required components of Head Start Performance Standards and licensing/ regulations. 6. Coordinates in center and all the other services, which may contribute to the development of the child's full potential, e.g., nutrition, social services, and parent involvement. 7. Plans a program to involve parents in the classroom activities in conjunction with the Mobility Coach and Central Office. 8. Assists in implementing enrollment, medical, dental, and mental health components of the program. Collaborate with parents to promote children's health and wellbeing by providing medical, oral, nutrition, and mental health education support services. 9. Reports and maintains records pertinent to the position. 10. Takes inventory and procures adequate supplies for the center. 11. Responsible for initiating all purchase orders for classroom supplies and equipment. 12. Coordinates with Assistant and Senior Directors of Child Development Services, Mobility Coach, Health Specialist, and Education Coach to ensure full implementation of high-quality education, disability, social services/parent involvement and health services. 13. Serves as a member of the Head Start Management Team. 14. Communicates and documents information shared with parents and other appropriate professionals in written and oral form. 15. Responsible for generating non-Federal (in-kind) match for BGHS. Encourages volunteering by parents and community members. 16. Ensures participation of Policy Council representatives and reporting. 17. Immediately reports all accidents to the Senior Director of Child Development Services in collaboration with the Assistant Director of Child Development Services. 18. Offers technical assistance to center committee and attends parent meetings as required. 19. Ensures daily operations are carried out to fidelity. 20. Assist with serving meals to the children and eats with the children, when needed. 21. Participates in all training sessions and professional development. 22. Responsible for establishing and maintaining an outreach and recruitment process. Completes paperwork and data entry necessary for enrollment. 23. Responsible for informing parents of the screening process, and their responsibility in the procedure completed by Head Start and Day Care. 24. Ensures a direct line of communication with center staff and Mobility Coaches. 25. Performs other duties, which may on occasion be requested by Central Office to ensure the safety and welfare of the children. 26. Adheres to and fully understands the confidentiality procedure. 27. All positions in the child development program are considered child safety sensitive and therefore employee must pass pre-employment drug screening and submit to random drug and alcohol testing throughout the school year. 28. Must have six (6) hours of state-approved orientation training within three months of employment. 29. Provides parents with administrative information (i.e., parent handbooks, hours of operation, etc.) in writing.

VII. QUALIFICATIONS
  • Preference is given to a Head Start parent or regular volunteer.
  • Must have a valid Kentucky State Identification Card or Driver's License.
  • Must have a High School Diploma or GED
  • Must have Early Childhood Education experience
  • Preferred Associates or Bachelor's Degree in Early Childhood or Related Field
  • Preferred Director's Credential (Must receive within 2 years of hire date)
  • An understanding of the community, resources, and maintaining collaborative relationships with community partners.
  • Must have initial physical exam including a negative TB Skin test or physician statement.
  • Must not have been convicted of a sex crime, child abuse and/or neglect charge.
  • Must have a minimum of 15 additional hours of training within 12 months of employment.
Pay:
$17.00 - $25.00 per hour
