POSITION SUMMARY
Interns will work to meet Pine Mountain Settlement School's mission for its core programming in Environmental Education, Appalachian Art, Culture and Craft, Agriculture and Sustainable Food Systems, and Community Outreach and Enrichment. Interns will have the opportunity to engage in wide-range of experiences including hospitality, agriculture, and infrastructure maintenance. In addition to direct instruction both in the classroom and outdoors, educators will: Work with staff to support the mission of Pine Mountain and provide a safe, fun learning environment for our participants Support outreach and communications Maintain open and consistent lines of communication with the program director •Participate in educational and safety training and obtain certifications that may enhance educator performance Maintain classrooms and teaching materials. This includes helping care for classroom animals, keeping track of inventory, and working with the entire program staff to keep facilities well-stocked and organized. Provide leadership for adult programs that include Pass It On, Naturalist Weekends, Community Hikes, and Experience Pine Mountain Events. Work with the educators to support programming and curriculum for K-12 environmental education, Appalachian culture and craft, agriculture and sustainable food systems, and community outreach and enrichment. Hike on moderately steep trails and in variable weather Participate in weekly department meetings, monthly staff meeting Provide quality customer service to all visitors Work independently and as a part of a team Other duties as needed Furthermore, campus interns are expected to develop a personal project that will act as a deliverable once they have completed the service term. These projects are to be overseen by the program director with regular check-ins and support.
