Job Summary/Basic Functions Position Overview The Aviation Program Coordinator serves as a crucial team member within the Eastern Kentucky University Aviation School of Aviation (EKU-A), supporting the operational, administrative, and technical functions of the flight training program. This role requires a strategic blend of aviation expertise, administrative proficiency, and technological acumen to ensure seamless program operations, regulatory compliance, and an exceptional student experience. The ideal candidate will drive process improvements, manage critical software, and foster stakeholder engagement to support the program's mission of delivering high quality aviation education in alignment with Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) standards, governmental regulations, and university objectives.
Minimum Qualifications Education:
Bachelors required
Experience:
Minimum one-year experience required; responsible clerical, customer service or administrative support preferred. Experience with Microsoft Office, Excel spreadsheets.

Preferred Qualifications:
Qualifications such as Private, Instrument, and Commercial Pilot would be ideal, or that of CFI.
Job Duties:
50%
  • Spearhead the development, revision, and implementation of the Flight Lab Policy Manual to ensure alignment with current FAA regulations, institutional policies, and program goals.
Make recommendations for flight lab enrollments and oversee the processing of flight lab completion documentation and grade change forms, ensuring accuracy and timeliness. Design and execute streamlined procedures for enrolling EKU-A students in flight labs, leveraging data-driven strategies to enhance efficiency and accessibility.

  • Provide advanced technical support for critical EKU-A systems, including Slate and Flight Schedule Pro (FSP), by developing and managing forms, optimizing workflows, and resolving technical issues. Lead continuous improvement initiatives for Slate, including form creation, process enhancements, and system maintenance.

  • Manage the flight gear store, overseeing inventory control, procurement, and distribution of flight kits. Ensure accurate preparation and sale of kits to students, while collaborating with EKU accounting to maintain financial records and appropriate student account charges.

  • Facilitate program orientations and airport tours, delivering professional presentations to prospective students, families, and stakeholders to promote EKU-A program's mission and opportunities.

  • Monitor and respond to inquiries received through the EKU-A program's main email, providing timely, professional, and accurate information to students, families, and external stakeholders.
