Full Job Description Education, Experience & Certifications:
We are seeking an energetic and dedicated Program Coordinator to lead our "Uniform for Kids" initiative, a vital program designed to provide children with access to quality uniforms that foster confidence and equality.
Job Summary:
The Program Coordinator
  • Uniforms for Kids is responsible for the day-to-day planning, coordination, and execution of St.
Vincent de Paul Baton Rouge's Uniforms for Kids program during its peak season. This position provides hands-on operational leadership to ensure a streamlined, dignified, and efficient experience for participating families across multiple distribution sites, including thrift stores and partner locations. This role oversees logistics, inventory management, volunteer coordination, and customer service for the program, ensuring that each child receives clean, new uniforms in a manner that upholds the dignity of every family served. The Coordinator works closely with the Director of Retail Operations, store managers, community partners, Conferences, and volunteers to implement program enhancements, including online registration, site-based distribution, and inventory allocation. All staff of St. Vincent de Paul of Baton Rouge collaborate in the mission to FEED, CLOTHE, HOUSE, and HEAL, recognizing Christ in those served and working alongside people of goodwill to relieve need and address its causes.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
Education, Experience & Certification High School Diploma or equivalent required; Associate or Bachelor's degree preferred 2-3 years of experience in retail operations, program coordination, logistics, or related field Experience managing volunteers or seasonal staff preferred Valid driver's license with a safe driving record
Other Qualifications:
Strong organizational and project management skills with attention to detail Ability to manage multiple sites, timelines, and priorities simultaneously Commitment to providing service with dignity, respect, and compassion Proficiency in Microsoft Office, Google Workspace, and basic data entry systems Strong interpersonal and communication skills
Physical Demands:
Must be able to life up to 50 pounds without assistance Must be able to stand for extended periods during distribution events Must be able to move throughout store and warehouse environments Must be able to bend, stoop, and carry items as needed
Working Environment:
This position operates in a combination of conditioned and unconditioned retail, warehouse, and office environments Frequent travel between distribution sites and partner locations is required Work schedule may include evenings and weekends during peak program periods
ESSENTIAL JOB DUTIES/PERFORMANCE STANDARDS
Program Operations & Coordination Oversee the daily operations of the Uniform for Kids program across all distribution sites Implement and manage program timelines, ensuring readiness for peak back-to-school season Coordinate uniform procurement, sorting, and allocation to distribution locations Ensure consistent, dignified, and efficient experience for all participating families Inventory & Logistics Management Track and manage uniform inventory across multiple sites Coordinate delivery and distribution of uniforms to stores and partner locations Monitor inventory levels and adjust allocations to meet demand Maintain organized storage and staging systems Volunteer & Staff Coordination Recruit, train, and supervise seasonal staff and volunteers Develop schedules and assign responsibilities to ensure smooth operations Provide ongoing guidance and support to maintain service standards Foster a welcoming, mission-driven environment for all team members Customer Experience & Program Delivery Ensure families are served in a respectful, organized and timely manner Support implementation of streamlined registration and pickup processes Address questions, concerns, and challenges with professionalism and care Uphold the dignity-centered model of service in all interactions Collaboration & Communication Work closely with thrift store managers, Administration Office Assistant, and retail staff to integrate program operations Coordinate with community partners and distribution sites Provide regular updates to the Director of Retail Operations on program progress Assist with reporting on program outcomes and participation Continuous Improvement Identify opportunities to enhance efficiency, accessibility, and participant experience Support implementation of program improvements year over year Contribute ideas that strengthen both operations and mission impact Other Duties Assist with transportation of uniforms and supplies as needed Support related retail or program operations during non-peak periods Perform other duties as assigned This job description is a summary of the essential duties and responsibilities of the position.
