General Summary:
The Coordinator provides strategic leadership and operational administration for Credit for Prior Learning (CPL), Competency-Based Education (CBE), and adult and military student advisement and support. This position collaborates with academic departments, K-16 Partnerships, the Office of Career and Integrated Learning (OCIL), and the college's workforce development and noncredit areas to advance initiatives and support adult student credential completion and career advancement. The position coordinates with enrollment services for oversight and administration of academic credit earned from prior learning experiences, workforce training, military education, industry certifications, portfolio assessment and challenge exams and national standardized examinations such as Advanced Placement (AP) and CLEP). The position engages with external organizations, such as the Massachusetts PLA Council, University Without Walls, and online course providers, to research and develop new alternative credit options and accelerated credential-completion pathways. In addition, the position oversees operational processes supporting the Veterans Resource Center, including VA education benefit certification, JST credit maximization, and coordination of services and outreach that support veteran and military-affiliated students. Finally, the role ensures CPL, CBE, military and other alternative credit support initiatives promote the college's mission of student success, equity, and workforce alignment.
Duties and Responsibilities:
Adult Student Advising and Support Respond to inquiries about alternative credit from students, faculty, and staff, including the from My Experience Counts (state-wide CPL website). Support adult and military-affiliated students in the exploration of academic and career opportunities aligned with regional, state, and national employer needs and workforce development trends. Counsel adult and military-affiliated students in identifying credential completion pathways and options that fit their unique backgrounds, situations, and aspirations. Assist adult and military-affiliated students in transferring in credit from traditional, military, and alternative sources, including the arrangement of course substitutions as possible and appropriate. Develop step-by-step guidance for assessment of CPL, CBE, military and other alternative credit, including, industry certifications, portfolio assessment and challenge exams, and national standardized examinations such as Advanced Placement (AP) and CLEP). Oversight, Administration and Reporting Ensure that all alternative credit types meet and align with the collage's internal academic standards, the college's external accreditation standards, state-wide DHE directives, and any other state or federal regulations that apply. Assist Enrollment Services with CPL, CBE, military and other alternative credit processing. Coordinate the implementation of CPL, CBE, military and other alternative credit assessments between students and faculty evaluators. Work with the finance area to maintain a budget for faculty evaluation stipends and assist HR with processing payments. Develop and maintain databases of CPL, CBE, military and other alternative credit that can be used for both internal and external analysis and reporting on program outcomes including enrollment impact, student retention, and degree completion. Produce operational reports for MCC's institutional leadership and complete the required annual reporting to Massachusetts PLA Council. Maintain the databases and information for MCC in My Experience Counts (state-wide PLA website) Use data insights to inform program improvements, policy updates, and strategic planning. Collaboration and Outreach Coordinate with Enrollment Services and academic departments on course substitution options for returning adult students and veterans with military credit. Partner with academic departments and faculty content experts in the development, refinement and implementation of CPL, CBE, military and other alternative credit assessments. Collaborate with K-16 Partnerships and the Office of Career and integrated Learning (OCIL) on synergies with CPL, CBE, military and other alternative credit. Support Admissions and Advising for specific programs that are most applicable for CPL, CBE, military and other alternative credit, including Fire Protection and Safety, Biotechnology, Information Technology, Education, Business, Healthcare Administration, Aviation Maintenance, and World Languages. Work with MCC's Marketing and Communications area on CPL, CBE, military and other alternative credit promotional initiatives. Build relationships with community organizations, employers, workforce partners, and military organizations to expand student opportunities Strategic Leadership and Development Research and explore emerging practices in competency-based education, digital credentialing, and workforce-aligned learning models. Collaborate with institutional leadership and academic departments in the development and implementation of comprehensive institutional strategies for CPL, CBE, military and other alternative credit that is aligned with college's mission and academic policies and standards. Represent MCC on the Massachusetts PLA Council in their efforts to develop and maintain best practices and improve the transferability of CPL, CBE, military and other alternative credit. Serve on the college's Workforce Development Council and other leadership groups as appropriate. Provide training, resources, and guidance to faculty and staff for consistent and equitable CPL, CBE, military and other alternative credit practices. Pursue grant opportunities and external partnerships to expand CPL, CBE, military and other alternative credit initiatives. Veteran Advising and Veterans Resource Center Operations Support operational workflows and services that assist veteran and military-connected students through the Veterans Resource Center. Assist with daily operations and officed coverage of the Veteran Resource Center. Maintain the certification production calendar and daily workflow for students receiving VA educational benefits. Submit required VA enrollment certifications and process updates related to schedule changes, withdrawals, program changes, and enrollment adjustments. Maintain accurate documentation and tracking systems for certification activity to ensure compliance and audit readiness. Coordinate with the Registrar's Office, Student Accounts, Academic Advising, Financial Aid, and academic departments to resolve enrollment issues affecting VA benefit eligibility. Communicate clearly with veteran and military-affiliated students regarding certification status, required documentation, and processing timelines. Support efforts to maximize the evaluation and application of Joint Services Transcript (JST) credit toward degree completion.
Requirements:
Master's degree in higher education, education administration, or related field Minimum three years of experience in higher education administration, advising, enrollment services, prior learning assessment, or academic program development An equivalent combination of experience may be substituted for the required Master's degree Experience managing complex operational processes and cross-departmental workflows Demonstrated ability to manage high-volume processing systems with accuracy, confidentiality, and attention to detail Strong written and verbal communication skills Preferred Qualifications Experience with Credit for Prior Learning, Prior Learning Assessment, or competency-based education models Experience evaluating military education credit (JST, CCAF) or working with veteran and military-connected students Experience with VA education benefits processing or School Certifying Official support functions Familiarity with student information systems, advising platforms, and operational reporting tools Experience coordinating cross-office workflows with Registrar, Financial Aid, Student Accounts, Advising, and academic departments

Salary Range:
80,066 is the starting Salary of Grade 06 position with a Master's Degree , actual salary commensurate with academic background and experience.
