Mohawk Trail Regional School is seeking a Massachusetts-licensed practitioner to serve as the Clinical Director of our in-district therapeutic program, which serves students in grades 7 through 12 within our building in Shelburne Falls. The Mohawk Trail Supported Classroom (MTSC) provides a structured environment for students who require intensive social-emotional and clinical support alongside their academic instruction. We are committed to promoting students' connection to their school community, while simultaneously addressing complex mental health and behavioral needs through evidence-based, trauma-informed practices.Position Summary:
MTSC's Clinical Director provides clinical leadership and oversight for all therapeutic services within the program. This individual is responsible for building and sustaining a safe, supportive environment where students with mental health needs — including school avoidance, self-harm, and trauma histories — can stabilize, grow, and achieve their full potential. In addition to providing individual counseling services, the Clinical Director collaborates closely with special education staff, families, outside agencies, and school leadership to ensure coordinated, student-centered care.Responsibilities:
Provide individual, group, and crisis counseling check-ins to all students within the MTSC program Milieu or classroom clinical support at times Advocate for the students' needs to staff and teachers to support their academic success Create therapeutic breaks, coping strategies, support plans, and behavior plans as needed to support students at school Case Management of all students in the program, between teachers, family, and outside providers. Maintain strong working relationships with Massachusetts state agencies, including DCF, DMH, CSO, Youth Villages, and other community mental health providers Support families in navigating state systems and accessing community-based resources Coordinate transitions to and from higher levels of care, including partial hospitalizations Compose and maintain IEP goals. Update student progress triannually. Utilize de-escalation strategies to support regulation Work closely with the special education teachers of the program to best support students Support paraprofessionals working in the program with psychoeducation and support on how to best work with students Support incentive programs, structures for the programs, and ways to remain consistent, safe, and predictable for students Work in both the middle school and high school programs, grades 7-12 Develop creative ways for students to navigate their classes, and possible internship and work experience Attend and create field trips for the program Attend re-entry meetings, team meetings, and progress meetings with families as needed Support the guidance counselor in setting up specific schedules and classes to best support the student Lead the program's crisis prevention and response protocols, including safety planning for students who engage in self-harm or express suicidal ideationSalary Range:
