Job Description

POSITION SUMMARY
This position supports the work of the Y, a leading nonprofit, charitable organization committed to strengthening community through youth development, healthy living and social responsibility. The Camp Unit Director and School's Out Site Director at the MetroWest YMCA works with the Associate Executive Director of Camping Services and Out-of-School Time Assistant Director to oversee the operations of the Juniors Unit during the summer and a School's Out site during the school year.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
1. Under the supervision of the Associate Director of Camping Services manages, directs and coordinates the Juniors Camp Unit during the summer at the Outdoor Center for the Hopkinton Summary Day Camp. Ensures high quality program, designs practices, processes, and procedures for a high quality program. 2. Under the supervision of the Out-of-School Time Assistant Director manages, directs and coordinates the School's Out site. Ensures high quality program, designs practices, processes, and procedures for a high quality program. 3. Coach staff and provide staff supervision. 4. Models relationship-building skills in all interactions. Develops and maintains collaborative relationships with children, families, staff, and schools. Maintains regular, clear, and concise communication within area of responsibility. 5. Manages programs, including: a. Communicating with families, program specialists and pertinent stakeholders as necessary; b. Ensuring all program elements are implemented based on Y requirements for content; c. Compliance with Department of Public Health, Department of Early Education and Care (EEC), the Child and Adult Care Food (CACFP) Program regulations and other state and local regulatory; d. Assist with licensing and inspection visits as requested: e. Ensures that YMCA program standards are met and safety procedures followed; f. Maintaining proper records/department files such as child files, attendance records, etc. 6. Assists with leadership meetings, special events, and Y fundraising activities. 7. Serves on the Outdoor Center Camp Leadership Team and is responsible for the management of a safe and effective camp unit and supporting the overall camp operation during the camp season and throughout the year. 8. Organization, marketing, preparation, implementation and evaluation of summer day camp. 9. Supports the Associate Executive Director of Camping Services in camp planning, alumni relations and staff recruitment/retention. 2 10. Communicates timely, openly and effectively with staff, leadership, nurses, and camp leadership regarding issues of concern or safety of staff and campers. 11. Prepares for and participates in camp and Out-of-School Time activities that include Family Fun Nights, theme days, and dress up days. 12. Develops, implements, and manages operating plans to promote program and/or membership growth for the YMCA. Executes strategies to ensure that members and/or program participants connect with one another and connect with the
YMCA. 13.
Ensure the safety, high quality and strong financial management of all programs and operation through the development and maintenance of a strong part-time staff team, appropriate administrative systems, and high curriculum and safety standards. 14. Creates comprehensive action and improvement plans based on program survey data. 15. Ensures a positive working and program environment emphasizing the YMCA's areas of focus and character values. 16. Ensures high quality member-focused programs through innovative program development, evaluations and ongoing training of staff. 17. Works collaboratively with the Marketing Department for successful marketing, social media and communications development and implementation. 18. Assists in other department operations and special events as assigned by the Supervisor(s). 19. Attend staff meetings and participate in, as well as record, required trainings in accordance with individual professional development plan and EEC regulations. 20. Performs other duties as assigned.

QUALIFICATIONS
Bachelor's degree in related field or equivalent is preferred and commitment to ongoing professional development. At least one year of experience with elementary school age children in a licensed OST program (including summer camp). Experience and training relating to working with high-needs children preferred. Compliance with EEC licensing regulations Ability to relate effectively to diverse groups of people from all social and economic segments of the community. Flexibility to work at other MetroWest Y sites as needed and appropriate.
ABUSE RISK MANAGEMENT
Employees who directly supervise youth will: Adhere to policies related to boundaries with youth. Attend required abuse risk management training. Adhere to procedures related to managing high-risk activities and supervising youth. Report suspicious or inappropriate behaviors and policy violations. Follow mandated abuse reporting requirements. Follow employee and volunteer screening requirements and use screening instruments to screen for abuse risk. Provide employees and volunteers with on-going supervision and training related to abuse risk. Provide employees and volunteers with regular feedback regarding their boundaries with youth. Require employees and volunteers to adhere to policies and procedures related to abuse risk. Respond quickly to policy and procedure violations using the organization's progressive disciplinary 3 procedures. Respond seriously and confidentially to reports of suspicious and inappropriate behaviors. Follow mandated reporting requirements. Communicate to all employees and volunteers the organization's commitment to protect their youth from abuse. Report essential abuse risk management information to the board of directors.
Supervisors and administrators will:

Pay:
$52,000.00 - $58,000.00 per year
