Job Description

Program Specialist - RESEA 95 Liberty Street, Springfield, MA 01103 $25.35 an hour - Full-time $25.35 an hour - Full-time SUMMARY The Program Specialist-Reemployment Services & Eligibility Assessment (RESEA) is responsible for delivery and fulfillment of the RESEA program as it relates to the Career Center activities mandated by Massachusetts Unemployment Insurance (UI); facilitating Career Center Seminar (CCS) and meeting with jobseekers to prepare individual reemployment plans.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
Facilitate the CCS and conduct the initial assessment with individuals within required UI timeframe. Conduct individual follow up sessions to provide personalized job development counseling, training options, review employment and educational opportunities, evaluate work readiness and review work search activities within required UI timeframe. Maintain knowledge of all Career Center programs available for eligible members as well as programs of partner agencies and refer members to the appropriate program(s) to address needs. Perform all necessary data entry to MOSES computer system in an accurate and timely manner documenting training attendees, meetings and any other customer interactions. Complete all required paperwork on a timely basis; following all Center policies, procedures and standards. Communicate effectively and positively with co-workers, customers, and supervisors. Ensure confidentiality within all areas of responsibility. Follow all procedures pertaining to the Center's policies while recommending changes to policies and procedures when necessary. Perform additional duties as required.
KNOWLEDGE/SKILLS/EXPERIENCE REQUIRED
Bachelor's degree in counseling, social work, or a related human services field preferred; alternatively, three or more years of experience in counseling, human services, customer service, and/or case management. Knowledge of job search strategies, career planning, and career development is desirable. Organizational, customer service, coaching, assessment and problem-solving skills. Strong written, verbal and listening skills; proven presentation skills to facilitate workshops. Ability to multi-task, in a fast-paced environment; ability to work with a diverse population; ability to work in a highly structured, detail-oriented program • Proficient with Microsoft Office programs (Outlook, Word and PowerPoint), virtual meeting platforms ie: Zoom, Teams, etc. Bi-lingual language skills (English/Spanish) highly desirable. Demonstrated reliability and dependability.
WORKING CONDITIONS AND PHYSICAL EFFORT
The work environment characteristics described here are representative of those the employee encounters while performing the essential functions of this job. Physical Demands Efforts This function requires moderate standing and walking with extended periods of sitting. Position does not involve lifting and moderate carrying of items. Ability to operate normal office equipment such as, telephone, copy machine, fax, scanner, and computer. Mental & Visual Demands Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and ability to adjust focus.
Work Environment:
This position typically works in an office environment. Noise is moderate and typical of conversations and office equipment.
