June 22, 2026 Worcester UNITES is a district-wide beyond school hours program for student instrumentalists in grades 3-12. We are not a traditional band/orchestra program. We engage students in all aspects of the El Sistema principles of Citizen, Artist and Scholar Every day, Everywhere. This program is unique because it is student coaches teaching students. High school student coaches lead sectionals, and participate with adult staff in all leadership decisions and responsibilities. Students participate in group lessons, sectionals, ensemble rehearsals and performances. They also have fun, participating in crafts, games, competitions and team building activities. South High School:
June 22nd
- 3:00-5:00PM Planning Meeting June 23rd
- 3:00-5:00PM June 24th, 25th, 26th
- 8:30AM-2:30
PM Key Responsibilities:
1) Participate in planning and professional learning meetings. 2) Plan for, teach and present lessons for sectional and ensembles.. 3) Supervise students during off periods such as lunch and recess 4) Participate and model appropriate behaviors in all aspects of the program 5) Performance of other job-related duties as assigned. 7) Responsible for assuring equal educational opportunity to all individuals regardless of race, color, gender, age, marital status, religion, gender identity, national origin, sexual orientation, homelessness, or disability. 8) Submit schedules, attendance and other as requested. 9) Plan non music related activities such as crafts/games etc. 10) Work successfully with other interns to organize and present final program concert
Qualifications:
1. Current WPS High School Student Grade 10 or above or recent alumni with demonstrated musical skills and experience at an intermediate or advanced level. 2.
Background Check:
Successful completion of a background check if the applicant is over 18 is required. 3. Prior experience as a teacher/coach of elementary aged students.
