2 About Virtuous Boss and The Love Project Virtuous Boss is a purpose-driven education and consulting organization committed to empowering individuals, families, school systems, and communities through innovative education, training, and wraparound services. The Love Project (TLP) is a trauma-informed, evidence-based relationship education and career readiness initiative serving high school youth ages 14 to 18. Through structured programming, mentorship, and skill-building, TLP helps young people develop healthy relationships, emotional resilience, and future planning skills. Position Overview Virtuous Boss is seeking two compassionate, reliable, and culturally responsive Trusted Adult Mentors to serve youth participants in The Love Project. Mentors play a vital role in building safe, consistent, and supportive relationships with high school youth while facilitating evidence-based curriculum and providing ongoing guidance throughout the program cycle. This role requires flexibility, strong interpersonal skills, and a genuine commitment to youth development. Hours and scheduling will vary depending on program phase and school site. Candidates must be available to adapt their schedule across summer and fall programming. Program Schedule and Hour Commitment Pre-Program (Immediate Start Through June 2026) Mentors are expected to commit a minimum of 10 hours per week prior to the program launch for training, planning, coordination, curriculum review, and onboarding activities. Candidates who are available to begin as soon as possible are strongly preferred for this role. Summer Program (July 2026 | 2 Weeks) The summer program runs for two consecutive weeks in July 2026. During this period, daily attendance is required. Facilitation hours are 8:30 AM to 1:00 PM. In addition to facilitation time, mentors are expected to arrive at least 20 minutes before sessions begin. Mentors should expect an elevated workload of approximately 40 hours during the two-week summer program, which includes facilitation, preparation, debrief, and data entry. During implementation weeks, a typical day includes approximately 2 hours of direct session facilitation with youth, plus up to 8 additional hours per week for training, preparation, check-ins, and required documentation. Fall and Winter Program Following the summer program, the role will return to approximately 20 hours per week. Fall and winter sessions will be held in the evenings to accommodate school schedules. Afterschool sessions typically run from approximately 2:30 to 4:00 PM, with mentors expected to arrive at least 20 minutes before students are released. Evening session times may vary by school site. Candidates must be flexible with scheduling as program hours will shift depending on the school partner, time of year, and program phase. This is not a rigid 9 to 5 role and requires a mentor who can adapt as the program evolves. Key Responsibilities Build a safe, consistent, and supportive mentoring relationship with assigned youth participants throughout the program cycle. Facilitate evidence-based workshops and curriculum sessions with high school youth during scheduled program hours. Conduct regular individual or small group check-ins to help youth reflect on workshop content and apply learning to their lives. Attend all required orientation, training, and professional development sessions prior to and during the program. Participate in campaign projects, showcases, and milestone celebrations to encourage youth engagement and achievement. Communicate proactively with program staff to share observations, flag concerns, and support goal-setting for individual youth. Maintain appropriate professional boundaries and uphold all safety, confidentiality, and mandatory reporting protocols at all times. Accurately track youth participation and submit brief check-in summaries and documentation as required. Participate in periodic reflection, debrief, and supervision sessions with program staff. Complete data entry and required documentation in accordance with program timelines and guidelines. Qualifications Experience working with youth in education, counseling, mentoring, coaching, or community engagement settings is required. Strong interpersonal communication, active listening, and empathy skills. Culturally aware and able to build meaningful, trusting relationships with diverse youth populations. Reliable, punctual, and committed to providing consistent support throughout the full program cycle. Flexible availability across daytime, afterschool, and evening hours depending on program phase and school site. Access to reliable transportation; ability to travel to Prince George's County school sites is required. Successful completion of a background check required prior to hire. Prior trauma-informed care training is preferred but not required. Experience working with male youth populations is strongly preferred. Bilingual candidates, particularly Spanish-speaking, are strongly encouraged to apply. Availability Requirements All candidates will be asked to confirm the following during the initial phone screen: Are you available to commit to the full two-week summer program in July 2026, with daily availability from 8:30 AM to 1:00 PM? Are you available to commit a minimum of 10 hours per week prior to the program start for training and preparation?
