July 6th-July 9th, 2026 Scope:
Summer College Readiness Program Mentors will be required to provide leadership and guidance to program participants. Program participants include rising high school seniors and current seniors planning to take a gap year. Responsibilities:
Attend all workshops/class sessions in the program Guide a group of 3-4 participants through the program Assist staff in setting up and cleaning up workshops Attend all meals with participants (breakfast, lunch, and dinner) Be a role model for participating students and representative of McDaniel College Supervise students in the residence halls, including providing conflict mediation and enforcing college policies Support students with navigating campus, dining hall, residence halls, etc. Attend training prior to the beginning of the summer program Maintain confidentiality of students, staff, and co-workers throughout the program and beyond with no specified end date Maintain professional boundaries with interactions being program focused Other duties as assigned by supervisor to support program objectives Requirements:
Successful completion of at least 1 semester at McDaniel by the start of training Maintain a minimum cumulative GPA of 2.5 Clean disciplinary record at McDaniel College (not on disciplinary probation) Professional role model during the entirety of the Summer College Readiness Program Reliable, responsible, and relatable team player. Be available for the entirety of the program and all required training pieces Be hired as a McDaniel Local Leader for the current summer Ability to pass a criminal background check Working Conditions:
While performing the duties of this job, the employee may be exposed to outdoor weather conditions. The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate. Physical Abilities:
This position does have some limited lifting involved but not more than 10 pounds at a time. Must be able to walk, bend, and sit for long periods. Must be able to navigate campus and work in and out of air conditioning with some periods in the heat. Additional Information:
