ANE SANE
Regional Coordinator (RC) will be responsible for ongoing education, training, technical assistance, and support for practicing Sexual Assault Forensic Examiners (SAFE), those who are 'in training', and for those providers interested in the role of the forensic nurse. The RC will work closely with the Project Director (PD), Clinical Director, RCs, and external stakeholders to promote and support the project goals. Program activities include but are not be limited to in-service education and training in hospitals, health centers, and schools of nursing; community education on topics related to forensic nursing; development of best practice policies and protocols; consultation and peer/case review with practicing forensic nurses. team to implement the statewide Adult/Adolescent and Pediatric courses, simulation exam training, and other program offerings. Establishes and maintains collaborative affiliations with area hospitals to expand the program. Provides education in the community, at hospitals, health centers, and at schools of nursing on forensic nursing and interpersonal violence; maintains evaluations of all sessions. Provides leadership among forensic nurses through case/peer review providing feedback to promote best practice care and sound documentation. Supports policies, regulations, goals and objectives of theANE SANE
program. Assists theANE SANE
Team in the development and maintenance of program policies and procedures as needed. Provides clinical expertise for practicing SAFEs and those in training. Testifies in court as needed and qualified, and assists in the preparation of other SANEs for court testimony. Regularly attends SAFE Program quarterly meetings and other educational/informational sessions, and, when appropriate, meetings of the SAFE Program Advisory Board. Works collaboratively with law enforcement, prosecutors, area victim services agencies and others with whom forensic nurses might interface. Participates in local SARTS/MDTs in the region as needed. Maintains and reports statistical data in theANE SANE
redcap database. Encouraged to maintain membership in a forensic nursing focused national organization. Performs other duties as assigned. Qualifications Bachelor's Degree (BSN or MSN preferred) with a minimum of 3 years' experience as an active, practicing forensic nurse or a combination of education and experience from which comparable knowledge and skills are acquired. Current Maine (or compact region) RN or APRN licensure in good standing. Current Maine credential as an Adult/Adolescent SAFE; ME Pediatric SAFE credential is a plus Experience with public speaking, adult instruction Familiarity with forensics as it pertains to the sexual assault patient, medical terminology, nursing advocacy for SA patients, trauma informed care, and advocacy programs Demonstrates the ability to work with multi-disciplinary teams, communicate program needs, and promote the specialty of forensic nursing. Valid driver's license and reliable transportation.
