Job Description We are seeking an experienced Senior Program Manager to lead and oversee complex government-funded aerospace and hypersonic development programs. This role is responsible for driving successful execution across multiple high-value hypersonic development initiatives while ensuring alignment between technical objectives, program schedules, financial performance, and regulatory compliance requirements. The ideal candidate will serve as a key liaison between VALT, government stakeholders, and cross-functional internal teams, supporting advanced R&D efforts focused on hypersonic air-breathing systems and next-generation aerospace technologies. This individual will play a critical leadership role in program execution, risk management, strategic planning, and customer engagement within a highly regulated defense contracting environment.
Key Responsibilities:
Lead execution of multiple government-funded hypersonic development programs, ensuring alignment with technical objectives, program schedules, financial performance, and contractual requirements Oversee all aspects of program performance, including technical execution, cost management, schedule adherence, risk mitigation, and deliverable management Ensure compliance with U.S. Department of Defense (DoD) regulations, including the Federal Acquisition Regulation (FAR), Defense Federal Acquisition Regulation Supplement (DFARS), and Defense Contract Audit Agency (DCAA) requirements Collaborate closely with cross-functional engineering teams to support the development, testing, integration, and execution of advanced hypersonic air-breathing systems and related aerospace technologies Build and maintain strong relationships with government agencies and stakeholders, including the DoD, Missile Defense Agency (MDA), and related defense partners Ensure contractual deliverables are completed in alignment with program requirements, regulatory standards, and customer expectations Monitor program execution and contract performance, proactively resolving issues and mitigating technical and programmatic risks in collaboration with internal and external stakeholders Support technical reviews, customer briefings, contract modifications, and program reporting activities associated with government-funded aerospace programs Ensure program execution aligns with technical specifications and leverages advanced technologies in propulsion, materials, thermal management, and aerospace system development Identify, assess, and mitigate risks across multiple technical efforts and operational activities to support successful program delivery Develop and implement long-term program strategies, execution plans, and resource forecasting activities aligned with organizational and customer objectives Drive cross-functional coordination across engineering, manufacturing, operations, and leadership teams within a fast-paced aerospace research and development environment Required Qualifications Bachelor's degree in engineering, aerospace, program management, or a related technical discipline Minimum of 7+ years of program management experience within aerospace, defense, advanced technology, or a related highly regulated industry Demonstrated experience managing U.S. government-funded programs and navigating DoD contractual and regulatory frameworks Strong understanding of advanced aerospace systems, hypersonic technologies, propulsion systems, missile defense systems, or related aerospace technologies Proven ability to manage multiple high-value programs simultaneously within fast-paced, technically complex environments Experience managing program execution across technical, schedule, cost, contractual, and operational objectives Exceptional leadership, communication, organizational, and problem-solving skills with the ability to lead cross-functional teams and coordinate across multiple stakeholders Experience managing program budgets, schedules, deliverables, risk mitigation activities, and customer expectations Ability to effectively communicate technical and programmatic information to executive leadership, engineering teams, customers, and government stakeholders Eligibility to obtain and maintain a Secret-level security clearance, as required by government contracts Preferred Qualifications Master's degree in engineering, business administration, program management, or a related discipline Direct experience working with the Missile Defense Agency (MDA), Department of Defense (DoD), or related government aerospace and defense organizations Familiarity with advanced hypersonic air-breathing propulsion technologies, including scramjets, ramjets, rocket propulsion systems, or related technologies Experience within aerospace R&D environments supporting rapid prototyping and advanced technology development Strong background in program cost management, scheduling, quality oversight, and operational execution within technical organizations Experience implementing scalable program management processes, operational improvements, and execution strategies across complex engineering environments Prior experience supporting advanced aerospace development programs, flight test efforts, or highly iterative engineering initiatives
