Job Summary:
The Brown Center Adult Day Program is dedicated to supporting people living with dementia and their families. The position of the Program Assistant is to assist in initiating and facilitating a wide variety of recreational and educational activities for the program participants.
Schedule:
Part time, Monday through Friday, daytime hours
Essential Responsibilities :
With input from professional staff, lead activity groups. Encourage program participant's participation in programs and activities. Escort program participants on activities away from the property as assigned. Conduct various activities at the direction of the Program Coordinator. Assist participants with personal care, including toileting, hygiene, and grooming when applicable. Provide assistance in transferring individuals with physical impairments. Assist with cleaning program areas as needed to avoid risk to participants or to enhance program operation. Maintain general observation of participants and share appropriate information with staff. Attend all required training, in-services and staff meetings. This is to include the successful completion of dementia training within the first 90 days. Strive to maintain a safe working environment through the prevention of accidents, the preservation of equipment and the achievement of safe working practices. Maintain positive and professional demeanor toward program participants, visitors, family members and co-workers. Assist with and/or administer medications to participants, under the supervision of the agency nurse. Prepare food for participants' breakfast, lunch and afternoon snack.
