Food Justice Mobile Market Specialist Reports to:Seeds of Success Program Manager Status:
Full-Time (32-Hour Weeks), Non-Exempt, Grant-Funded, Union-Represented (AFSCME)Pay:

About the Position Among many programs which Community Action Duluth operates, Seeds of Success is a food justice and urban agriculture program. Seeds operates the Community Mobile Market year-round, grocery delivery services to community members, and some seasonal Farmers Markets. Additionally, the program manages an urban garden site and Deep Winter Greenhouse at the Denfeld Food Forest. Seeds of Success Food Justice Specialists require a strong commitment to customer service, a broad understanding of food access and poverty issues, and a passionate commitment to food justice and social change.Key Responsibilities Include:
The core tenants of the Food Justice Specialist position include but are not limited to:- Oversee the setup and breakdown of market locations
- Track sales, including tracking inventory and quality control
- Greet and welcome all market customers with kindness and work to understand participants' experiences and be open and responsive to needs
- Become fluent in agency and community resources
- Work closely with program manager and team to coordinate procurement and storage of product and supplies for market sites, including completing shopping trips and working with wholesalers
- Participate and serve as a positive advocate for Community Action Duluth in ongoing neighborhood-based outreach and promotion for market sites, including door-to-door canvassing, social media, and public speaking opportunities
- In collaboration with the program manager, work closely with organizational partners to operate a Produce Prescription program
- Recruit and train volunteers and program ambassadors from the communities served
- Assume the role of supervisor of volunteers or seasonal employees in the absence of the SoS Program Manager at program sites
- Supervise with a lens of education and support
- Support Program Manager in writing grant applications
- Adhere to any reporting requirements for grants by collecting pertinent data from market operations
- Co-develop and implement evaluation tools to gauge program success
- Support co-workers at garden and farmers markets
- Become fluent in aspects of program outside of focus area

Required Qualifications:
- Previous project management experience
- Able to walk over uneven surfaces at garden and market locations
- An attentive, friendly attitude in all situations
- Strong organization skills and ability to independently manage multiple projects at once
- Self-motivated and demonstrated ability to work cooperatively as part of a team
- Ability and comfort working with a diverse population; experience working with at-risk populations (people of color, veterans, the elderly, etc.) a plus
- Fluency with social media and computer database software
- Flexible schedule; ability to work occasional evenings and weekends
- Ability to safely lift 50 pounds in and out of a raised truck bed, repeatedly
- A driver's license, current insurance and clean driving record (required for insurance purposes)
- Ability to drive and safely maneuver a cargo van (does not require a commercial driver license)
Preferred Qualifications:
- Food service, grocery, or farmers market experience
- Experience working with volunteer groups/high schoolers
- Experience with both urban and rural agricultural systems
- Experience with gardening
- Degree, coursework, or lived experience in nutrition, food systems, sustainable agriculture, justice studies, or similar
- Nonprofit experience
- Experience in forging, maintaining, and seeking community partnerships Schedule and Work Environment This is a grant-funded, full-time position with regular office hours between 8:00am-4:00pm, Monday through Friday.
