Based on Indigenous values and ways of knowing, our programs have grown to include services that promote integral role of and return to the centrality of first medicines, the use of cultural arts to support youth development, and programs that foster food security in ways that reconnect Indigenous and other peoples to the land and waters. Job Summary The Peer Recovery Specialist plans and does outreach across the community to identify potential and with current clients. Performs client eligibility screenings, informal peer-to-peer counseling and, with the assistance of the providers, provides wraparound supportive case management services to clients. Additionally, the Peer Recovery Specialist will assist in the local evaluation process by providing six-month follow-up assessments. Works to help drug user communities reduce harm by providing supplies and assist in overdose education, prevention, and response. Minimum Qualifications Lived experiences, direct or indirect, with substance use and overdose response and prevention; or 1-2 years of experience working in social service setting. Knowledgeable of and experience with Indigenous ways of knowing and culture. Experience collaborating and communicating with diverse stakeholders. Preferred Qualifications Actively recovering or knowledge of drug recovery Bachelor's degree in public health, health education, sociology, psychology, social work, or any other closely related field(s). Knowledgeable of and experience with Indigenous ways of knowing and culture Strong knowledge of opioid crisis Knowledge of and experience providing harm reduction services Knowledge of the links between substance use, STIs especially HIV and Hepatitis C Experience with social media networking and outreach Excellent verbal and written communication skills Proficient with Microsoft Office Suit and database management Must possess and maintain a valid driver's license Must pass a criminal background check Compensation commensurate with experience and qualifications.
