Job Description

This position supports the Fisher House Lodging Program at the Minneapolis VA Health Care System, which operates two Fisher Houses on the medical center campus. Fisher Houses provide temporary lodging for Veterans, service members, and accompanying family members or caregivers during episodes of care. The Program Support Assistant performs administrative coordination, guest services, scheduling, purchasing support, and house operations in a non clinical environment.
Qualifications:
To qualify for this position, applicants must meet all requirements by the closing date of this announcement, 06/25/2026. You may qualify based on your experience as described below: Specialized Experience GS-6: You must have at least one (1) full year of specialized experience equivalent to at least the next lower grade level (GS-5) in the Federal Service, that has equipped you with the particular knowledge, skills, and abilities to perform successfully the duties of this position. Specialized experience includes but is not limited to: maintaining a records database; coordinating schedules, such as for bed availability and/or reservations; performing various administrative duties (i.e., coordinating lodging, maintaining a purchase card, mailing information, etc.); providing customer service to various groups; and assisting with orientation and training for new employees or volunteers. Physical Requirements:
You will be asked to participate in a pre-employment examination or evaluation as part of the pre-employment process for this position. Questions about physical demands or environmental factors may be addressed at the time of evaluation or examination. Work is primarily sedentary with periods of walking, standing, bending, and carrying light materials (e.g., laptops, records, orientation supplies). Frequent computer and keyboard use is required.
Work Environment:
Performed in an adequately lighted, heated, and ventilated office/medical facility environment. The work involves typical office risks, frequent interruptions, and time-sensitive deadlines; standard safety, infection-control, and ergonomic practices apply.
