The Senior Manager of Programs will be responsible for supporting the delivery of Camp Fire Heartland's social and emotional learning program to young people within the organization's afterschool programs and their families. This role emphasizes program design, direct youth engagement, staff coaching, and behavioral support strategies to ensure high-quality, developmentally appropriate programming aligned with Camp Fire's mission.
POSITION RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Promote an environment, at all times, that is trauma-informed, both for staff and service recipients.
  • Ensure high quality programming of the SEL lessons.
  • Keep team informed of program policies and performance expectations through communication means such as staff meetings, individual supervisory meetings, and written documents.
  • Use required evaluation tools to measure and track program impact (outputs and outcomes) and generate reports that measure data for participants, families, volunteers, and partner organizations.
  • Ensure all required reports are submitted accurately and within the required time frame.
  • Responsible for procuring program supplies and materials in accordance with program budgets and financial policies.
  • Maintain confidentiality and exercise appropriate discretion.
PROGRAM DESIGN AND IMPLEMENTATION
  • Design and oversee high-quality out-of-school programming for diverse youth populations across backgrounds, ages, and abilities, including:
  • Lesson planning and curriculum development
  • Ensure programming is engaging, structured, and developmentally appropriate
  • Develop supplemental materials and resources to enhance program delivery
  • Coach staff on implementing a variety of instructional approaches, including project-based learning and youth-led activities
  • Lead continuous improvement of program content and delivery across all sites
DIRECT YOUTH ENGAGEMENT AND BEHAVIORAL SUPPORT
  • Work directly with youth in program settings to model effective engagement strategies
  • Support staff in managing high-behavior youth and complex group dynamics
  • Develop and implement individual and group behavior plans
  • Lead the development and consistent implementation of behavior management strategies across all program sites
  • Provide guidance on trauma-informed practices and positive behavior interventions
  • Ensure all program environments are safe, inclusive, and supportive for youth participants
SKILLS AND QUALIFICATIONS
  • Be available during program operating hours (7:00 AM - 6:00 PM as needed)
  • Degree in elementary education, child or family development, applied behaviors, therapy, counseling, or another mental health field or certificate in RBT.
  • At least two years' experience working with young people.
  • Commitment to working with young people and providing the highest quality services possible.
  • Represent the organization in a highly professional manner at all times.
  • Communicates regularly and professionally with partner organizations.
  • Maintain consistent attendance and is punctual.
  • Ability to travel between sites.
  • Perform all other duties as assigned.
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills.
  • Ability to work with a diverse population.
  • Ability to work independently and in an extremely fast-paced environment.
  • Valid Drivers license
  • Pass extensive background check.
