Position Function:
The purpose of this position is to lead and assist with the delivery of parenting, child development, and adult relationship education to individuals contending with social and economic adversity in Mississippi. The focus of this work will include, but not be limited to, promoting stable and well-functioning families, preventing child abuse, and cultivating trauma-informed systems. This employee will assist with the Trauma-Informed Parenting and Professional Strategies (TIPPS) Extension family life education program. This position will be administratively and programmatically responsible to the State Family Life Specialist and will be housed in the School of Human Sciences. This is an Extension position with the primary aim of implementing healthy family relationship programming supported by state and/or federal grants. Continued employment past 1-year is dependent on renewed funding.
Salary Grade :
13 Please see Staff Compensation Structure or Skilled Crafts and Service Maintenance Compensation Schedule for salary ranges. For salary grade UC, these positions are "Unclassified" and salary ranges are determined by the hiring department.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
The following examples are intended as illustrations only of the various types of duties assigned in positions allocated to this classification. The absence of specific statements of duties does not exclude those tasks from the position if the work is similar, related, or a logical assignment of the position.
  • Provide coordination of TBRI trainings for parents, caregivers, and professionals working in child and family adjacent systems in Jackson, Mississippi.
  • Deliver TBRI trainings both in-person and virtually.
  • Recruit participants for the TIPPS program.
  • Cultivate relationships and collaborate with community partners, including MDCPS, Youth Courts, CASAs, CACs, and non-profits.
  • Conduct intake assessments with clients and collect evaluation data.
  • Serve as a mentor for clients, making connections for them with community resources, answering parenting questions, and providing feedback on TIPPS programming.
  • Market TIPPS program activities in the Gulf Coast region.
  • Work in collaboration with TIPPS project staff to perform administrative and programmatic activities as needed across the state.
Minimum Qualifications:
Education:
  • Bachelor's degree in human development and family science or a related-field.
Licensures:
  • Valid driver's license
Substitutions:
  • An equivalent combination of related education and related experience may be considered for this position.
Rank and salary will be commensurate with education and experience.
Preferred Qualifications:
  • Master's degree in human development and family science or a related-field.
  • Trauma-Informed Child Advocacy, Child Advocacy Studies Training, or TBRI Practitioner status, or related trauma-focused training.
  • Certified Family Life Educator (CFLE) designation or training in a CFLE-affiliated program.
  • Previous experience in adult education delivery.
  • Experience working with vulnerable populations.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
  • Ability to independently perform high-quality work following well-defined policies and procedures while simultaneously performing in a team environment.
  • Excellent verbal, listening, and written communication skills with effective public speaking skills.
  • Knowledge of federal and state financial regulations, and university financial policies and procedures.
  • Ability to engage in multiple tasks simultaneously.
  • Skill in organizing resources and establishing priorities.
  • Ability to foster a cooperative work environment.
  • Employee development and maintenance skills.
  • Ability to organize, prioritize, and schedule work assignments.
  • Ability to analyze budgetary expenditures for compliance with approved budget.
  • Demonstrated ability to work as a team player.
  • Computer skills, including Excel, Microsoft Word, PowerPoint, and the willingness to learn new software.
  • Strong presentation skills and comfort making public presentations.
  • Ability to perform routine office work as well as fieldwork across the state.
  • Proficiency with computers including Microsoft Office, PowerPoint, REDCap, SPSS, Excel, Qualtrics, and Canva.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills are essential.
  • An ability to navigate multiple assignments simultaneously.
  • Ability to travel as required during performance of assigned tasks.
  • Ability to work flexible hours, including evenings and weekends. Working Conditions and Physical Effort
