Position Overview:
The Rocky Mountain Tribal Leaders Council (RMTLC) is seeking a Project Director for the US Dept. of Education, Indian Education, Student to Teacher Education Program (STEP) Grant, a project is designed to address the challenges experienced in the Native American community, using evidenced-and-researched-based strategies and practices that are intended to engage those impacted by the project outcomes: students, educators, teachers, and families in the Native community, in the development, implementation, and evaluation of this project. This position will report to the RMTLC Executive Director.
Essential Functions:
Lead local education planning efforts for STEP projects Analyze and develop data reports for STEP project Engage in Tribal, local, state, and regional collaborative partnerships to develop academic enrichment pro-grams around STEP topics Participate in an internal Data Management Team Provide strategies to focus on reading, math and science and arts to the education agency Assist with trainings on data management, analysis, and report development Build public education and cultural awareness through activities specific to STEP Develop presentations and reports to communicate data findings in an effective and culturally appropriate manner Lead efforts in organizing meetings and conference calls for STEP Lead in the development of new partnerships and data sharing agreements in the areas of STEP Research evidence-based practices specific to STEP Engage partners to integrate culturally based knowledge of STEP into data visualization efforts and best prac-tices Communicate respectfully and effectively with Education personnel and other partners via email, phone, and in-person meetings Travel to local communities in Big Horn County and various out of state meetings/conferences as required Adhere to RMTLC Core Principles in all activities, communications, collaborations, and services
Knowledge, Abilities, Skills, and Additional Functions:
Experience with grant management and budgeting Proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, Access, Outlook, and Power Point. Must be willing to learn other software as needed Excellent written and oral communication skills Work in a cooperative and professional manner with all RMTLC staff Sensitivity to others and ability to work respectively and cooperatively with the organizations part-ners Experience working in a trauma-informed setting, or demonstrable knowledge of the principles of being trauma-informed Ability to give and receive feedback and constructive criticism with grace Experience integrating culturally based information within public health activities Ability to demonstrate humility and hospitality Experience communicating or working with public health organizations Knowledge about the ethics of data and research Other functions as assigned by
RMTLC Executive DirectorQualifications\ Requirements:
A minimum bachelors degree in Education, or Equivalent Experience in working with students in grades K - 12 Must be able to communicate effectively orally, in writing and deliver clear, effective public health presenta-tions with ability to respond to questions Ability to conform to varied work schedule when appropriate, (i.e., weekends, emergencies, etc.) and be able to meet deadlines Develop and maintain effective working relationships with programs, departments, other organizations, and agencies Exhibit ethical and professional behavior in all facets of this position Ability to carry out all responsibilities of the position in an organized manner Demonstrate discretion, tact, knowledge, judgment, and overall ability in working effectively with fed-eral, tribal, and other professionals and facilitating participation and partnership in the activities of the program Sensitive to cross-cultural differences, and able to work effectively within their context. Must be able to pass a background check Experience working with Tribes strongly preferred Ability to work independently, but in a team-based atmosphere American Indian/ Alaska Native preferred Veterans preference will be considered Valid drivers license.
Job Classification:
Regular Status, exempt, full FTE position with a twelve-month probationary period.

Environmental Factors:
Perform duties in a controlled, tobacco-free office environment. Employment period based on performance as well as duration of grants funding this position and suc-cessful application of new grants.
