Job Description

Museum of the Rockies (MOR) at Montana State University is the state's most visited museum and one of its top ten tourist destinations. The Museum hosts nationally recognized changing exhibits as well as a Children's Discovery Center, Living History Farm, and the state-of-the-art Taylor Planetarium. Duties and Responsibilities The Outreach Program Coordinator is responsible for coordinating the museum's outreach program. This position is part of the museum's Education Department. The Outreach Program Coordinator coordinates all outreach efforts for the museum. This includes all external educational efforts, including but not limited to: relationship building, making new partnerships and collaborations, teaching across the western US. The Coordinator will work with the Director to create long-term strategy, long-term plan, and manage the budget. The coordinator will educate groups of all ages both digitally and in-person, in the museum and out of it. Oversee outreach programs for the Museum. Help support education efforts within the museum, including in-person and digital field trips, programs, events, etc. Help manage the StarLab and portable planetarium resources. Help develop new curricula and lessons. Work to create strategy, goals, and ideas regarding museum outreach. Collect and evaluate educational data. Manage the logistics of outreach like travel, communication, etc. Other duties as assigned. Required Qualifications - Experience, Education, Knowledge & Skills Bachelor's degree in education, museum studies, or a related field, or an equivalent combination of education and relevant experience. Experience managing informal education programs. Experience teaching a variety of audiences in informal education settings. Demonstrated experience with managing program schedules including web-based calendars and software. Preferred Qualifications - Experience, Education, Knowledge & Skills Demonstrated experience facilitating livestream programs including experience with the Zoom and WebEx platforms. Experience developing curriculum or lesson plans including the incorporation of state standards. Demonstrated experience in a "first point of contact" role in an education program (e.g., answering phone calls and emails, directing participants to appropriate information sources). Experience with BlackBaud/Altru software. Demonstrated experience producing programs using Zoom and WebEx, including creating events and operating video equipment. Experience working in a museum setting, including educational museum programming and training programs. Demonstrated experience tracking budgets and working within budget frameworks.
