Summary:
The JS - Lessons Learned Specialist will support the
USSOCOM J-7
Joint Special Operations Forces (SOF) Development and Design directorate with a Lessons Learned Program (LLP). The
J79-LL, SOF
Lessons Learned (LL) Program is responsible for the SOF Lesson Learned Program (SOFLLP). The SOFLLP applies lessons learned to the full range of joint operations to develop policy and for gathering, developing, and disseminating joint lessons learned across the DoD. The purpose of this task is to support
CDR USSOCOM
with critical information for SOF Force Development and Force Design and related HQ Lines of Operation. Each of these LLP's will execute their duties through collection, data management, analytics, and dissemination of essential insights to support the mission. These duties include the discovery, knowledge development, implementation, and sharing of observations, issues/insights, lessons, and best practices from operations, activities and investments (OAI). Specific duties may include, but are not limited to: Perform high level analysis through quantitative/qualitative research, independent evaluations of operations, exercises, wargames and experiments to assess the effectiveness of
DOTMLPF-P
throughout the Command and develop standards for new and/or existing requirements to alter training or operational missions and program. Coordinate with HQ USSOCOM, Joint Special Operations Command (JSOC) staff, subordinate commands, and TSOCs leadership to provide focus area study recommendations, command synchronization efforts and quarterly feedback findings. Document special project staff roles, responsibilities, organization and processes for best practices and efficiencies that support the Command's mission and vision. Perform all DVRED related activities resulting from observations, insights, and lessons learned within JSOC Headquarters. This includes making every effort to "write for release" and make OIL available to share appropriate lessons across the enterprise Leverage cross-functional military Services and government agencies analytical studies and LL to recommend adjustments to JSOC processes. Brief and advise senior JSOC leadership on the effectiveness of the LL findings, potential approaches, benefits for capability resolution, and implications. Support the preparation and presentation of studies that support command requirements and activities. Employ expert research skills to conduct independent evaluations of the JSOC findings to advise senior JSOC leadership on potential approaches, benefits for capability resolution, and implications to
DOTMLPF-P.
Coordinate with DoD and interagency to synchronize JSOC LL efforts, findings, and sharing of best practices. Develop and maintain an electronic continuity resource that may be accessed by all stakeholders. To include key resources and points of contact. Travel to select locations on military aircraft, vessels, and vehicles, to conduct specified LL collection efforts, to ensure that real-time lessons are collected in both hostile and non-hostile areas of operations.

Required Qualifications:
BA/BS in International Relations, Strategic Studies, or related field 8 years prior DoD or Interagency experience 4 years' experience supporting SOF organizations and/or operations 1 years' experience using classified collaborative communications systems.

Travel is required to various CONUS and OCONUS non-hazardous and OCONUS hazardous locations in order to collect observations, insights, and lessons to accomplish the objectives of this task.
