Yes (includes overnight and out-of-state travel) The Student Success Chaperone plays a critical role in supporting the safety, supervision, and overall experience of high school students participating in a structured summer enrichment program focused on academic growth, college exposure, and personal development. This position is responsible for maintaining a safe, organized, and engaging environment where students are held to high expectations while receiving appropriate support. The Chaperone works closely with program staff to ensure smooth daily operations, including monitoring student participation, assisting with transitions, and reinforcing program policies and behavioral expectations. In addition to on-site responsibilities, this role includes supervising students during college visits, including overnight and out-of-state travel, ensuring student safety and accountability at all times. The position may also include transporting students to program activities and college visits using a 12-passenger van. Special Instructions to Applicants Applicants must be available for the full duration of the program (June 1 - July 25) and all scheduled workdays and travel dates. Candidates must meet organizational driving requirements, including motor vehicle record (MVR) review and approval. Compensation This position is classified as a temporary employee . Compensation is provided as a total seasonal stipend of $6,000 , paid in four (4) installments: Installment 1 ($1,500): Issued after completion of onboarding and first week of work Installment 2 ($1,500): Issued at approximately Week 3, contingent upon satisfactory performance and attendance Installment 3 ($1,500): Issued at approximately Week 6, contingent upon continued participation and performance Installment 4 ($1,500): Issued upon successful completion of the full program, including all required dates, responsibilities, and travel All applicable federal and state taxes will be withheld in accordance with payroll regulations. Travel expenses, lodging, and meals during program-related trips will be covered. Priority will be given to candidates available for the full program duration and all scheduled travel dates. High-performing staff may be considered for future school-year or leadership opportunities. Minimum Qualifications High school diploma or equivalent Experience working with youth in educational, camp, mentoring, or related settings Valid driver's license with a clean driving record Ability and willingness to operate a 12-passenger van safely Strong interpersonal, communication, and problem-solving skills Preferred Qualifications Associate's or Bachelor's degree CPR/First Aid certification (or willingness to obtain) Experience supervising students during overnight or extended travel Prior experience driving larger vehicles (e.g., vans or minibuses) Defensive driving certification Essential Duties Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following. Supervise and monitor students during all program activities, transitions, and events Maintain a safe, structured, and supportive environment that promotes student success Enforce program policies, procedures, and behavioral expectations consistently Assist with program logistics, including attendance tracking and daily operations Chaperone college visits, including overnight and out-of-state travel Transport students to and from program activities and college visits, including operating a 12-passenger van as needed Ensure safe driving practices and adherence to all traffic laws and organizational policies Conduct basic vehicle checks prior to transport Communicate effectively with program staff regarding student needs, concerns, and incidents Respond appropriately to behavioral or safety concerns and ensure student accountability Serve as a positive role model and contribute to a respectful, inclusive program culture Physical Demands The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to perform the essential functions of this position successfully.
