AFTER SCHOOL/CAMP PROGRAM FACILITATOR
(part time) Job Overview After School/Camp Program Facilitators support the mission of the Lincoln Children's Museum by facilitating engaging hands-on, minds-on after school activities in Lincoln Public School, at the Museum and other community facilities. Facilitators travel independently to program sites and facilitate multiple activities for student participants. Individuals must have availability between 2:30-5:30pm at least two days per week. Additional availability between 7:45am-4:30pm for support of our camp programs when LPS is not in session. Hours can range from 5-20 per week. Qualifications Lincoln Children's Museum is seeking candidates that are energetic, self-motivated, dependable, and have a desire to work with children. High school graduate with some college study and/or post-high school work experience. Education major/minors and/or previous experience working with children aged 5-12 is preferred. Exhibit leadership, enthusiasm, maturity, compassion, responsibility, flexibility, and initiative. Good communication skills are a must; staff works directly with children, parents, after school site coordinators, Education Manager, volunteers and interns. Essential Functions Facilitate and instruct educational programs on a weekly basis. Supervise children at all times to ensure their safety. Adapt program activities to work with a variety of ages and learning styles. Be sensitive to the needs of student participants and attend to them promptly. Address parent/guardian concerns and respond to accidents quickly. Other duties as assigned by the Education Manager. Physical Demands and Environmental Conditions Active work-lifting and/or carrying up to but not to exceed 50 pounds occasionally, lifting and/or carrying up to 20 pounds frequently. Work also includes climbing, crouching, crawling, walking, kneeling, and standing for long periods of time. Primarily indoor work - may occasionally be exposed to some outdoor elements and/or hazards.
