Job Description

The Program Specialist will support Proteus, Inc.'s efforts to improve healthcare access for farmworkers and meat processing workers in Nebraska. This role focuses on helping workers understand and connect with existing healthcare services, building relationships with providers, and creating a referral guide to strengthen local access points. The Program Specialist will also gather input from workers, healthcare professionals, and community partners to better understand the challenges workers face, such as language barriers, cost, and transportation. Insights from this work will help support long-term, sustainable access to care for agricultural and meat processing workers across the state. The ideal candidate is bilingual in Spanish and English, has strong communication skills, and demonstrates an understanding of the farmworker experience. Experience working with immigrant or underserved populations is valued. The position requires comfort with independent work in rural areas and the ability to build trust within farmworker communities. Travel throughout the region is expected; a valid driver's license and reliable transportation are required. This is a full-time temporary position. The Program Specialist will join a mission-driven team working to improve health care access for farmworkers and their families.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES 1.
Responsible for program delivery that may include the following activities: 1. Assists in the recruitment of potential clients through community outreach. 2. Conducts educational presentations to targeted populations 3. Develops and maintains linkages with community and human service linkage resources and vendors. 4. Assists with implementation of needs assessment to identify resources available and farmworker needs. 5. Provides interpretation for Proteus participants. 6. Inputs and Tracks participant information and expenses using electronic software programs. 7. Serve as Proteus representative on selected community committees and report to the Regional Director regarding these meetings. 8. Assists the Regional Office team in the overall development and attainment of goals for funded programs. 9. Completes required reports on a weekly, monthly, quarterly or annual basis as required by the Supervisor or funding source. 10. Performs public speaking to smaller and larger audiences in both Spanish and English. 11. Performs other duties as assigned.
