Principal Duties:
Leadership The Nashua Program at Brentwood is a self-contained high school program for special education identified students with significant social, emotional, and/or behavioral challenges. The Program Coordinator supervises, observes, and evaluates program staff; plans and coordinates all Program activities; and administers student discipline. Management Coordinates an off-site special education program for students identified as having significant social, emotional, and/or behavioral challenges, working with program staff to provide consistent, safe, and well-defined classroom settings. Ensures all students are taught the curriculum necessary to move forward in gaining credits leading to a high school diploma and/or HiSET. This includes making sure that students have options for alternative learning opportunities and community activities. Implements the program's behavior management approach with students. Observes, evaluates, and supervises Program staff, including teachers and support staff. Participates in the hiring process for new staff. Ensures that all staff adhere to the tenants of LSCI [Life Space Crisis Intervention] for therapeutic purposes and/or the use of CPI to manage escalating situations. Ensures IEPs are in compliance, transition goals are met, and students receive individual services in their IEPs, such as individual and/or group counseling. Reviews new referrals and transitions students in and out of the Program, or to mainstream classes at a Nashua high school. Acts as the Program spokesperson when interacting with Nashua and other district schools, private schools, DCYF, court and mental health agencies. Serves as the LEA in coordinating meetings as part of the special education process. Develops good relationships with parents, engaging them in the Brentwood community, sharing positive experiences, and connecting with them around discipline and to support behavior change. Performs other job-related duties as assigned by the principal or designee. Qualifications Bachelor's degree required, Master's degree in Special Education or related field preferred New Hampshire DOE certification in Special Education or Special Education Administration/Principal certification required. Experience working with students who have significant social, emotional, and/or behavioral challenges. Administrative experience and/or evidence of leadership abilities.
