JOB SUMMARY AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Serves as an Intake Specialist for the Urban Programs Department and its Lead and Healthy Homes Program. Responsible for meeting with property owners and tenants to collect documentation required for program applications. Frequent travel to applicant's property required. Processes property owner applications and creates client files in order to efficiently coordinate various housing services with a focus on the Lead Hazard and Healthy Home program, while providing limited referral and other support to other programs. Provides administrative and program support as well as assist with the day-to-day operations of various programs, including the completion of environmental reviews. Interacts with a diverse range of people and agencies and therefore, must be compassionate, a team player, and possess a proven understanding of the issues facing a lower income population. Performs other duties as assigned. This is a full-time position, Monday through Friday, 8 am to 5 pm, is part of the UAW Professional Bargaining Unit and provides an excellent work life balance. The position is grade 12, salary dependent upon experience.
SKILLS/QUALIFICATIONS
High school degree, plus other courses related to the requirements of this job At least one (1) year office experience, preferably in government programs, human services, or housing Ability to read and interpret insurance forms, tax returns and pay statements/stubs Ability to compose correspondence, as well as speak effectively before small groups and interpersonally Bilingual skills preferred Must be a team player and compassionate to the issues facing a lower income urban population Must proficient in the use of personal computers and software necessary to perform the requirements of this position, specifically Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Outlook, etc.) Data entry and arithmetic skills Good customer service skills Must be able to work independently and handle multiple tasks simultaneously A valid driver's license is required
