Job Description

Caldwell University invites applications for a Director of the SOAR Program. The Director administers all aspects of this learning differences program including but not limited to serving as an academic facilitator, staffing, scheduling, recruiting, training, providing summer activities, and program development. Exposure to computer screens, occasional travel, occasional evening and weekend hours. Job duties include, but are not limited to: Serve as an advocate for the students in the program. Meet one on one as scheduled with each assigned student. Review coaching plans developed for each student. Perform administrative responsibilities to support this learning differences program to include; maintaining the program budget, writing and preparing reports as needed, maintaining SOAR physical space, hardware and necessary software in the SOAR room. Develop materials and publications for the program. Answer inquiries from prospective students, parents, educators. Review and screen all applicants; accepts students into the program. Coordinate registration activities for the students in the program. Recruiting, training, and supervising academic facilitators and peer mentors.

Regularly meet with the facilitator team. Review weekly progress documentation submitted by facilitators. Develop, review, and revise written policies and guidelines for determining the enhanced levels of accommodation for SOAR participants. Design and deliver workshops for students, parents, and other stakeholders. Design and conduct parent orientation, activities and/or workshops. Maintain student records that document the student's individualized academic plan, approved accommodations, progress reports, and communication with students and parents. Work with a small group of students as an academic facilitator. Collaborate with the Director of Accessibility Services, the Director of Career Planning & Development and the Asst VP of Academic Support. Coordinate activities for the program with the Office of Career Development and other departments as appropriate. Communicate with parents regularly. Arrange social activities for students in the program Prepare and run a summer program for SOAR students. Master's Degree in Special Education or a related degree. At least five years related work experience, preferably in higher education. Knowledge of disability accommodation practices and laws in higher education, with sensitivity to the needs of the students with disabilities with a service orientation, while maintaining strict confidentiality. Knowledge of standard educational assessments, psychological assessments and diagnostic methods. Experience with Microsoft Office apps and Google Suite and assistive technology. Work requirement requires a capacity to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced, high service delivery environment.
