Job Description
As a Program Specialist you will: Support Vocational Readiness and Employment staff assigned to supervise and assist participants of Chapter 31 and Chapter 36, Title 38, U.S. Code. Assistance is required in all phases of the vocational rehabilitation program. You are assigned a variety of administrative and technical support duties in the Veteran Readiness and Employment Division. This position primary purpose to support the Division's front desk office.
Qualifications:
Specialized Experience GS-9: Applicants must have one year of specialized experience equivalent to at least the next lower grade (GS-7). In addition to the skills for the GS-7 level, specialized experience at the GS-9 level must document experience in the following: a. Experience working with Vocational and Rehabilitation and Employment Chapter 31 and Chapter 36 programs. b. Experience working with contracting practices and procedures. c. Experience working with Vocational Rehabilitation and Employment operations. OR Education substation of a master's or equivalent graduate degree; or Two (2) full years of progressively higher-level graduate education leading to such a degree; or LLB. or J.D., if related Graduate Education. You must have at least one full academic year of graduate level education that demonstrates you possess the knowledge, skills, and abilities necessary to satisfactorily perform the work. One year of full-time graduate education is normally determined by the school you attended. If that number cannot be determined, 18 semester hours should be considered equivalent to one academic year of graduate study. Part-time graduate education is creditable on a pro-rated basis. If you qualify based on your education, you must upload or fax a copy of your college transcript along with your application. If you are selected for the position, an official college transcript(s) will be required at your start date. Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religions; spiritual; community; student; social). Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge, and skills and can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment. You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience. Full-time employment is considered to be at least 35 hours per week. Part-time experience will be credited on a pro-rated basis. The position is primarily in an office setting. Some travel may be necessary on occasion for training, meetings, or customer interactions.
