Day Program Lead

The Open Door of NJ is looking for a Day Program Lead to join our Day Program that serves adults with developmental mental disabilities at our location in Toms River. The role is integral in providing the opportunity for consumers to improve in life skills, develop behavior management techniques, integrate into the community and participate in recreation activities on site and in the community. They will promote consumers self- care, social skills, activities in the community and daily living skill, as well as behaviors shaping.

Responsibilities include:

Observe the persons served and report on their performance, develop, implement and monitor appropriate goals/plans and objectives to promote the independence of the consumers Provide direct support and supervision to consumers in the day program and in community Transport consumers utilizing agency vehicles Support the consumers with community outings and recreational activities Assistance with socialization skills, cooking, shopping, educational skills: including math, reading, writing, spelling and vocabulary Be an advocate and role model for consumers in employment and social interactions within the day program and/or community

Requirements:

Bachelors Degree in relevant field or 5 years experience working in a day program with adults Valid Driver's License Ability to use a computer, experience with Therap is a plus Able to pass a drug test, background check and clean driving record
