Job Description

The Internship Program Coordinator assists the Internship Program Manager with the Statewide Internship Program. This role is responsible for managing the daily operational and administrative needs of the Internship Program, ensuring everything runs smoothly and efficiently. The coordinator handles the program's data, oversees events, and takes care of coordination for interns across the state. By managing these aspects, they help provide a seamless experience for all participants involved. How does it get done? This position plays a key role in empowering the next generation of professionals through a dynamic and purpose-driven internship program.
Responsibilities include:
Championing internship success by coordinating mentors, interns, and partner agencies to foster meaningful, growth-centered placements. Deliver impactful training and technical support that equips mentors and interns with the tools they need to thrive. Advance program excellence through research, resource development, and continuous improvement of operational processes. Manage program data and records with accuracy and intention to ensure smooth, compliant operations. Maintain organized, up-to-date program spreadsheets that support informed decision making and program tracking. Represent the internship program at career fairs, industry events, and recruitment opportunities, serving as an enthusiastic ambassador for our mission. Host trainings, workshops, and special events that build community, develop skills, and elevate the overall intern experience. Who are the customers? The State of New Mexico agencies and constituents Ideal Candidate The State of New Mexico agencies and constituents Minimum Qualification Associate's Degree and two (2) years of experience program administration or project management in areas related to the purpose of the position. Any combination of education and/or direct experience in this occupation totaling four (4) years may substitute for the required education and experience. Employment Requirements Must possess and maintain a valid Drivers License and must possess and maintain a current Defensive Driving Course Certificate from the State of New Mexico or must pass and receive Defensive Driving Course Certification within six (6) months of date of hire as a condition of continued employment. Some statewide travel is required. Working Conditions Work is usually performed in an office setting, with extensive exposure to Visual/Video Display Terminal (VDT), personal computer, tablet, printer, calculator, cellphone, copy machine, scanner, keyboard, and telephone usage.
