Responsible for managing The Food Depot's Casita de Comida (a client-choice food pantry in Española), Food 4 Pets (a partner-based pet food distribution program), and The Food Depot Pantries (direct-service, drive-up food distributions at multiple locations). Work focuses on providing excellent customer service to partners and clients, collaborating across departments, and ensuring compliance with federal program requirements.PRINCIPAL RESPONSIBILITIES
Casita deComida:
Oversees daily operations, including food distributions, tracking program data, and monitoring inventory and restocking. Manages all aspects of client services, including client registration, maintaining required records, and communicating with clients about distribution schedules. Builds and maintains strong working relationships with internal operations staff to ensure smooth program execution. Collaborates with the Volunteer team to ensure adequate support for distributions and activities. Manages the program budget and communicates needs or adjustments to leadership. Supports the planning, design, and setup of the Casita de Comida space to ensure an efficient and welcoming client experience. Coordinates with contractors and internal stakeholders during facility improvements or changes. Monitors progress of projects, addressing issues related to timelines, budgets, and functionality.The Food Depot Pantries:
Oversees all aspects of pantry distributions across multiple locations. Works closely with operations staff and drivers to ensure successful and timely distributions. Manages the program budget and communicates needs or adjustments to leadership. Prepares and maintains distribution materials such as signage, forms, and outreach collateral. Collaborates with the Volunteer team to ensure adequate staffing at distributions. Plans and communicates any changes to distribution schedules or operations. Maintains consistent communication with site partners regarding schedules and any issues that may impact service. Ensures accurate and timely data tracking and reporting after each distribution. Maintains compliance with applicable federal program requirements. Evaluates program effectiveness and implements improvements as needed. Food 4Pets:
Serves as the primary point of contact for partner organizations participating in the program. Tracks and monitors inventory of pet food in coordination with warehouse staff. Works with warehouse and distribution teams to coordinate scheduling and delivery of supplies. Develop partner organization reporting and accountability requirements. Tracks and reports program data, including distribution totals and service reach. Identifies gaps in service and supports outreach to new or underserved communities. Maintains program materials, including request forms, reporting tools, and partner communications. Represents the program at outreach events, partner meetings, and special projects. Collaborates with development and communications teams to support storytelling and grant reporting.General Responsibilities:
Maintains open and frequent communication with The Food Depot program partners. Collects feedback from clients and partners and implements changes as appropriate. Develops and maintains an excellent understanding of the hunger relief landscape, gaps in services, and community needs. Supports growth of The Food Depot's rural food distribution programs as needed. Contributes to building a positive team spirit; puts the success of the team above own interests. Complies with all The Food Depot policies, procedures and systems. Is consistently at work and on time. Performs related duties as required or assigned; assists other departments as requested; may work early mornings, evenings, and weekends, as needed. Qualifications Bachelor's degree preferred, or an equivalent combination of education, lived experience, and relevant work experience. Demonstrate a commitment to the mission and values of The Food Depot. Good communication and interpersonal skills and the ability to be a team player; must be able to effectively communicate and interact with coworkers, managers and customers; ability to effectively communicate problems and issues. Experience with TEFAP or other nutrition assistance programs preferred Comfortable with fieldwork, including travel and on-site logistics Familiarity with grant reporting, program evaluation, and client feedback tools is a plus Must have excellent customer service skills and be able to interface with many diverse internal and external customers. Must be computer literate. Knowledge of Microsoft Office and Google Suite of tools a must. Commitment to accuracy and thoroughness. Must be detail-oriented, able to handle multiple tasks in an office/warehouse environment. Must perform well in a fast-paced environment and be adaptable to change. Must be able to work independently of as well as collectively with other staff members. Must be able to use general office equipment such as computers, copiers, scanners. Employment Requirements Negative Pre-employment Drug Screening Physical Environment Employee will spend 50% of the time actively preparing for or working at food distributions, 35% of the time working at a stationary computer terminal in a shared office space handling data and administrative tasks, 15% talking on the telephone interfacing with clients, community partners, program coordinators and volunteers. Position functions in an office and warehouse environment, and requires travel to locations within the service area. Employee will work at public facing food distributions periodically, including lifting parcels of food of approximately 30 pounds and being required to stand for time periods > 3 hours.
