Job Description:
The Roseman Intern is responsible to assist Clubhouse staff with the delivery of education programming, particularly in providing tutoring focused on reading skills, and homework help. Additionally, the Roseman Intern may be occasionally required to assist with other operational functions of the clubhouse.
Major Duties and Responsibilities:
Assists with the administration of programs and activities that support Youth Development Outcomes, particularly as focused on tutoring members in reading and providing homework help: Ensures that members are encouraged to participate in a variety of program areas/activities and receive respect, recognition, instruction and constructive feedback to develop skills in program area Demonstrates leadership in relation to member conduct and safety to ensure a proper environment for the development of members Serves as a mentor/role model for members. Provides direction to members through the establishment and enforcement of standards, expectations, and consequences for inappropriate youth behavior in accordance with organization guidelines. Applies corrective action that is fair, consistent and age appropriate. Provides written documentation and support when appropriate for conduct/behavior issues under the supervision of BGCSNV staff Oversees cleanliness and safe operation of the education area(s). Also assists other staff with the cleanliness and safe operation of the clubhouse when needed Works cohesively with club staff to foster a positive environment for staff and members. May assist and participate in all aspects of the clubhouse including, but not limited to other program areas, other programs, or other duties as assigned Accounting for time through in/out clock system as assigned
Administrative Duties:
Assists with completion of documentation for programs Assists with compiling and producing accurate tracking of programs and program metrics including, but not limited to, monthly reports, program schedules, daily attendance Assists with other Clubhouse administrative duties as needed
Additional Responsibilities:
Enforces and abides by Clubhouse norms, organization policies, procedures and practices Provide attention and direction to special needs children Maintains a professional appearance and bearing reflective of the high standards of Roseman University and the
Boys & Girls Clubs of Southern Nevada Skills/Knowledge Required:
Enrollment in Roseman University and acceptance into the Federal Work Study program (FWS) Ability to deal effectively with children aged 6 through 18, in small group, large group and free play settings Strong verbal and written communication skills Ability to organize, direct, and coordinate programs, activities and events Ability to interact well with staff and other volunteers Demonstrated ability to take responsibility for the safety and well-being of others. Proficiency with Microsoft Office (Outlook, Word, Excel, Powerpoint) products
Physical Requirements:
Ability to sit, stand or walk for prolonged periods, and stoop and kneel occasionally Ability to speak and hear to use telephone, conduct meetings, etc. Vision to read printed materials and a computer screen Ability to effectively use computer, lift papers and files Ability to push, pull, reach for and lift articles up to 15 pounds Ability to hear and see all activity in and around work areas
Other Requirements:
At least 18 years of age Commitment to position/program for minimum period of traditional school block.
